Whoa, until now I somehow neglected to notice the FAST Key thing on lancerproject. Long story short - so long as you're within 2 feet of the car and the key is in your pocket, you can open the door.

Furthermore, you can start the engine just buy turning a knob (on the steering column where the key would normally be) assuming the key is on your person.

No more keys jingling around from your steering column. Badass. This car really is the future.

I love the fastkey, they have it in my dads infiniti FX 45 suv I was so suprised to see them have it availible for the lancer.

Yeah, for a ~$20K car to have such options is really impressive. Especially when the car is geared more towards performance than luxury. Does the FAST system work as it should? Does it have any glitches/annoyances?

It works perfect i havnt had any problems with it at all i love it. :D my car is 22k and it has sooo much Navi system fastkey sunroof CVT magnesium paddle shifters a 650 watt rockford system that came with it. Its perfect I just got the windows tinted. The only thing it needs is more power it comes with a 152 hp but its still not fast enough, i need turbo! lol :cool:

Oh, also I was wondering about the passenger door - does that unlock automatically too with the FAST system? What about the trunk?

the passanger door opens with the fastkey and the trunk you have to press it on the key, unlike my dads FX 45 you can just press a button like the regular doors

Does it have a little solenoid that actually pops the trunk open, or do you have to pull on some kind of handle after you hit the button?

no you press it and the hole trunk will open its nice

It is upsetting that the evo minisite is so terrible. I would expect it to be a GREAT source of information considering enthusiast are looking to Mitsubishi regularly for information/ sneak peeks. Tell us if there is going to be a 5 or 6 speed manual.. tell us how much hp it will have.. or what the thinking is so far.. why do I have to go to great sites like evoxforums.com to get speculative info instead of getting base info from Mitsu? Sure the STI is gross but I'm spending more time on the subaru site because it wants me there...
