I'm not sure what it is, but for the past month, I seem to be getting two requests per day to change people's usernames - and in some cases to change them back. People are generally justifying the request due to them not thinking of a decent username in the first place. The funny thing is that in half the cases the new username is far more absurd than the original.

Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of my username either, but it's tolerable. Next time you sign up for something, make sure you have a decent username picked out. I'm really getting sick of changing people's usernames, and I think I might start charging just to make people think twice about bugging me about it. Either that, or I'll butcher your username request and make you regret asking. I'm a busy guy and going back and forth about your username that no one cares about is taking up too much of my day.

On the contrary, for 20 bucks, if people paid you they'll expect it to get changed, you'll make a lot of money sure (maybe) but you'll probably get swamped with requests to change it and in a timely fashion. That'd piss people off more than merging hotdog, mlomker, and murlo's account into 1 and forcing them to share. HA! Now that I'd pay to see.

The same thing happened when I was big into Airsoft. The state message boards were used to coordinate games. Our college team (yes, we had a club team at school) had some stupid "callsigns", but we kept 'em. The rest of the local teams changed theirs every few months, to the point where we just stopped calling them by their "callsign".

What difference does it make if you love your forum handle. People know you by something, stick with it, else you become "that guy I remember because he uses the same signature picture (JDAVID, looking at you).
