Looking for opinions on best cleaning products that won't damage the wheels. I've heard the Meguiars Hot Wheels product works well but sounds like it could damage the wheels over time.

Hrmm, I plan to take the wheels off Friday when I get the car home and wax the rims. That way i can use air for a quick clean or water. Not sure if there is a specific substance we should be using on the BBS rims...so good question.

Does wax work pretty well? Someone told me when they heat up the wax will actually create more stick for the brake dust.

I have been using Wheelshield on my other cars and plan on using it on my BBS rims. It is a spray on and is suppose to stop brake dust from sticking to wheels for up to 1 year, seems to work so far. Check their web site out www.Pitstopinternational.com, found this on GearZ

P21s Wheel Gel is very gentle and works well when you let it dwell a while and use a little agitation. As for a sealant, I would use Zaino if you have it, otherwise I've heard really good thinks about FK 1000p.

DAWN classic on Clean water, the one coat of WHEEL WAX!!!!

I've been using wheel wax for awhile now. Works great and u can really tell the difference. When I got my evo I spent over 4 hours taking each wheel off, washing it thoroughly and then waxing, well worth the effort. Saved me hours this summer each time I went to wash my car and wheels. Generally I would just spray a wheel cleaner on an hose it off. Sometimes a little soap and water if I really wanted them flawless looking.

I just found something else really good for cleaning wheels...getting stuck in the snow and then spinning your tires! LOL. My wheels are stunningly clean now...unlike the rest of my car :-( I can't wait till the weather warms up and I have to get rid of all the swirlies/scratches and more on my car. Ugh :-(

Wheel Wax looks like a pretty good product, I'm having tons of brake dust build up that's a pain in the ass to clean off.

I'll give it a try this weekend to see if it lives up to the hype!

i use mag etching spray by eagle one on my sti's bbs wheels... just don't let sit for long it'll eat the paint... it's made for mag wheels but it does a kick ass job on bbs wheels. It destorys the brake dust like whoa!

and then wax the wheels it helps repell the dirt and brake dust.

I have always used maguiars products at the shop to detail our cars and we use the wheel cleaner and it has never hurt anything IMHO I think it is the best products on the market.

I use Maguires Quick Detailer on all wheels and finishes. Reason why, it helps lift and remove the dirt and brake dust as well as putting a little coat of protection too.
