Iv'e read everything from Hairdryers to Dental floss to fishing line. WD-40, goo gone, plastic razor blades, blah blah blah.

WTF is the proper way on a Evolution X? I want to remove the Mitsubishi, Lancer and Huggins badges. All I want on the back of the car is Evolution MR and the diamonds.

All of those work fine. I waited till a hot day, put my car in the sun & used dental floss to slide behind the badges, if they didn't peel off easy enough. Just do it gently & slowly. I also had to use a small amount of goo-gone for the adhesive that left some sticky smudges. Key points are gently & warm the badges, as well as part of the car that has them. My "Mitsubishi" badge snapped off into several pieces... guess it was the cheapest one.

heatgun/hairdryer and finger tips worked for me. then get some scratch X or wax to buff the underside.

if you have those dealrship stickers, just peal it off with your fingers.

I grabbed the edges and yanked them all off on a hot summer day. The goo gone spray to wipe away the adhesive. Finally I did a Zaino wash and polish to clean and protect the paint.

The Evolution and Mitsubishi badges broke a few times in a few places. The three diamond badge came off nice and neat for any future use.

i just did this a couple of days ago cuz i got the UK evo IX badge. as like with everybody the MITSUBISHI emblem broke in all places and evolution broke once and the lancer broke once as well.

it was a PITA especially the MITSUBISHI as it left a LOT of adhesive. tried WD40 then had to wax it a lot as i could see a bunch of scratches but the good thing is the wax took care most of it.

Yeah the badges crumbled up. I could have made alphabet soup when I was done.

Try the 3M stuff for taking off the left-behind sticky stuff and the other stuff for cleaning the paint getting it ready for glaze and wax. Both available at good automotive paint shops. Safe for all painted surfaces - will not harm the paint (but it will remove all wax).

I used dental floss after the car sitting in the sun for a bit. I had no problems at all other then dental floss breaks easily. Maybe some fishing line would have worked better. The badges do break easily but thats fine. Makes it easier to get the dental floss between the next letter. Once they are off I just rubbed the sticky stuff off. After that a little goo gone to get whatever leftovers off and maybe a wash if you wish. Really easy and simple to do.

I did mine a while back and the best advise I can give is take your time. There is no reason to rush, I took my time and I now have a Lancer edition Xbox 360 at home and a Mitsubishi Kennedy toolbox at work. It is well worth the time.

I just debadged mine using dental floss and then a credit card to get the adhesive off. Took all of 4 minutes and all of my badges came off in one piece!! I took all of the badges except for the MR. The picture is now my avatar, sorry it's crappy, it's off my iPhone.

What do you think?

Anyone know how to remove the side and hood vents and color suggestions?

I used a hairdryer on mine and the adhesive came off in a ball with the "lancer" badge. :shades:

Well from what I know you can heat it with a blow dryer/heat gun then just use some dental floss or fishing wire to slide across the back. You can take the rest of the glue off with goo gone or an eraser wheel, both work fine. There is also this box with a razor blade you can get to take it off in one piece and all you have to do is slide it under but i forgot the name of it but i can find out im pretty sure 3M makes it. Anyways just take your time with it if you want whatever your taking off in one piece. If you scratch the car just give it a buff and wax.

I removed mine last night with only wax coated dental floss. I then cleaned up with Goo Gone. No heating, no prying, no sawing, just keep pressure against badge as you drag across. If it is tough dash a bit of Goo Gone on the backside and let it soak for a few minutes.

Easy peasy!

I took mine off only a couple weeks after getting the car. I let it sit in the sun all day, and just pulled em right off. They were so easy to get off, couldn't believe it, none of them broke. The little bit of adhesive that was on the car rubbed right off.

I took all of them off my PB. I asked this in another forum, but the mitsubishi on the left side left a kind of "sunburn" where the badge was. At some angles you can still read the Mitsubishi. I've seen this happen on older cars, but never a brand new one. None of the other badges did this. How can i get rid of this?

My tip would be to soak any leftover adhesive with goo gone for at least 10 min. I did it in 30 degree temperature (not recommended) and it turned out ok.

I am wondering though, what is the best way to get the badges back on? I want to move my evolution and maybe MR badge to the left so it balances with the trunk button. I picked up some 3M double sided tape, but it looks too thick/wide. Any ideas?

tried that and it's still there. I'll take it to a detailer and see what they can do.

^ that sucks.. are you sure you're using goo gone?? .. it came right off of mine -- there was a bit of a shine coming off the area the badges were immediately after, but after a couple washes/waxes it was gone

what process do you suggest me to paint and then put it back on the trunk.

I pulled mine off and took off the original tape, plastidipped it and then put new 3m sticky tape and re-attached

yeah be careful using a credit card or anything to solid to pry/scrape i have seen scratches result form this. i used a heat gun and dental floss and got all the badges off without breaking any of them and i had very little "goo" left behind lol just gave the car a good washing and wax the debadging took all of 15 minutes at the most and makes it look 100% better.
