E-mailed my local track (Englishtown, NJ) with some general questions about tracks a while ago. Below is the e-mail response I just got. Even though the info is specific to this one track I think it's interesting enough to share so you have an idea on prices. Never knew it could be over 6k to rent a track for a day.

"Classes will be running all year, depending on the weather. I have dates on the web site and will be adding more shortly. The first time you come the class is $225 and runs from 9 to 5. After that our open track time is $125 for 6 hours and runs from 11 to 5. The class days and the open track time are the same dates. To register all you have to do is download the registration form from the web site, fill it out and fax it to our office when you chose the date you want to attend. As far as car setup next to the registration form download is a tech sheet that you need to have filled out which tells you what the car needs.

As far as renting the track goes. The cost for Monday through Thursday is $3500, Friday is $4000 with Saturday and Sunday being $6500 each. The cost includes 2 EMT's and an ambulance which are required. If you have the need we can offer you a tow truck or instructors for an additional cost. If you are interested in renting the road course please call me with a list of dates that you may be interested in please e mail me and I will check the availability."
