: Going to autox my MR
Jackygor 09-13-2008, 12:48 AM First time going to an autox event on sunday! The SST is going to be handy here. Any advice will be appreciated! I will be sure post the time relative to other car in the class :)
edit:
Holy smokes it was fun! The evo is definitely capable, but I felt that I didn't do it justice by being the second last in the A stock class. I was running with 5 s2k and a boxster. The best run I did was 55, and the last run, which was DNF, was also 55, if I weren't DNF, I think I would have been 2nd or 3rd! I didn't expected to win, but I just felt that I could do better. I ran at 39 in front and 38 in the rear, over all, it was neutral with a slight touch of understeering. I didn't have time messing around with different settings though, since I only had 3 runs. I really wanted to beat the boxster dude, he was being a douchebag, maybe next time :)

Remember: you're going to have fun and learn your new car.

lmao, yes the orange cones. I will be sure to dodge all of them!
Katya4me 09-13-2008, 11:26 AM 1) If the club runs classing, try and find out what your car falls under and make numbers for it, if needed. If you know the club but are confused with the classing, I might be able to help.
2) Get there early, empty the car out, bump up the tire pressures, get the car teched.
3) Walk the course, several times. If they have course maps, snag one.
4) If you have the option, take an instructor on your first run. This will help keep you on course and if that is not an issue then will help point out the better lines, and tell you when to go faster or slower. Remember: slow in, fast out. :)
5) Have fun. If you don't follow this rule, you won't come back. Don't go to your first event expecting to win. Then if you do, it's a happy surprise.
6) Autox is pretty laidback and most people love to offer advice to newcomers, especially newcomers with cool cars. :)
7) Follow the rules. This is probably the quickest and best way to get kicked out an autox. If someone asks you to slow down in grid, please do so. When you spin, 2 feet in. I guess that doesn't work here though.... :D
8) Take pictures. Not necessary, but can be nice to do for all of us.

How many PSI do you recommend?
Katya4me 09-14-2008, 03:49 AM Usually close to the max recommended on the tire. Basically, you don't want to worry about the tires rolling as you are going through the course.

odd, my stock advan says 44 psi maxed, however, when I checked, it was at 46 psi! I see people running those PSI, I lowered it to 37, am I retarded? I can't find information one this
Katya4me 09-14-2008, 12:26 PM Bump it up over 40 but don't worry too much about it unless you see that the tires are rolling. And have fun. :)
_Chris_ 09-14-2008, 02:01 PM Have fun
Katya4me 09-16-2008, 02:52 PM How did it go?
