: Cumulative Tire/Pressure thread
chetrickerman 09-05-2011, 07:14 PM Post up the tires you use for autoX and what pressure you run them at. You can also post your suspension setup.
I have BC BR coilovers and I was running 10k/10k at the time, Nitto NT-05 stock size and ran it at 35 psi and they felt greasy after the first run.
The goal for this thread is for someone to just come in here look up what pressure they should run, then go race.
JimGVT 09-11-2011, 11:10 PM I'm using Hankook RS-3's (stock size) with completely stock suspension. Best results seem to be starting at 38psi cold all the way around. Anything lower than that and I was rolling the sidewall, but these tires have a fairly soft sidewall.
Frankiago 09-12-2011, 12:08 AM Auto-X is for pansies.
I ran stock tires on 9.0" wide wheels at 34psi front 38psi rear
jyamona 09-12-2011, 12:48 AM stock tires stretched on a 9.5" wide wheel gave EXCELLENT steering response. I moved up to 265's and I miss it =/
MRufo 09-13-2011, 03:52 AM Nitto Nto1 245/40/18 on stock rim 38f 44b cold. Same psi for HPDE lapping.
2nd set R1's 265/35/18 on Rpf1 9.5 offset 15 34f 38b cold. Haven't autox them only HPDE/lapping.
Just compared back to back at a lapping day and the wider R1's dropped my time by 3 sec. on a 2 min track.
KW V3's lowered 1in.f .25r
camber -2.5f -1.5r
Perrin rear sway full stiffness
traction control 2 clicks off
chetrickerman 09-13-2011, 04:16 AM Thank you all for that info

justin81 09-13-2011, 05:42 PM I'm running 245/40 R-S3s on stock GSR wheels. 35-37psi cold keeps them from rolling. These are great tires for autox. Stretched on a 9.5 inch wheel would probably handle even better since the sidewalls are soft.
I'm on Eibach Prokit and Whiteline front and rear sways set to medium.
Evo_Freak 09-13-2011, 05:48 PM BC racing coilovers 8/8kg
front/rear camber @ -3/ -2.6
Perrin Rear sway w/endlinks on stiffest setting
9.5" Enkei
Bridgestone RE11, 265-35-18
cold temp 37psi
MRufo 09-13-2011, 07:54 PM I'm surprised more people don't stagger their tire pressure. I have found for autox and lapping that running 6-10 more psi in the rear really helps our fat, heavy awd machines to rotate.

I just allow the rear bar to do the work. I only adjust pressures when Im lapping
Jazzberg 09-15-2011, 03:29 PM I'm @ 34 f 36 r 275/35 Hoosiers RPF1 9.5's I like it.

How do you like the 275's on the 9.5's? Does it feel solid? I'm rolling 265 R1's on 9.5 RPF1's and was thinking 275's for next season.
Jazzberg 09-16-2011, 11:23 PM They are Great... Some guys are running the 285's I might try that some day, with a set of used ones.

You're probably losing mechanical grip at that point

That's the point. It's also my driving style. My last car was mid-engine and I find the x very hard to rotate.
Although, I autox'd yesterday and set the fronts at 34 and the rears at 38 and it felt great.

There was an 8 autoxing yesterday and he had 285 A6's on a 9.5 rim. It actually didn't look that bad. And, he was fast.
SiliconTek 09-18-2011, 06:55 PM Tein Mono Flex, 12kg/10kg, Star Spec Z1 265's running 39-41psi, -3.0F/-2.25R camber with ~1/8" cross toe. Anything less than 36psi nets snap oversteer when you drive with the training wheels off.
