Hello Everyone

For the last couple of months I have been hearing this pretty bad knock coming from my engine/Tranny. I took it into Mitsubishi and they informed me that these sounds are normal.

Now the ticking sound im not worried about, I know thats normal. Its the just valves and intake. It's the loud chatter in the backround I am worried about. It's very noticeable once I open the hood in the video.

Now after reading multiple threads on weird engine sounds, and multiple people are indicating its the SST tranny chattering. However I have not seen a video posted to compare the sounds.

I took a video for everyone to listen to. I would love your guys input on this.

Sounds like the SST noise, definitely not a spun bearing though.

That is NOT normal...

Kinda sounds like a cracked flexplate/flywheel, but i havent heard of that happening in any of these cars.

What I dont understand is its intermittent and I have not felt a performance loss..

is this from west side?

tell them to suck a fatty and take your car elsewhere. I got the same runaround with my clutch almost imediatly after purchase. I live in fort mac and at around grassland my cars clutch started to slip. Notfied right away took it in the next day off I had which was like a week. They said it was all fine. Went back again with it slipping saying this is broken, still got the its perfectly normal thats how these cars are and away i went. 5000km after purchase clutch and flywheel were toast and i was out close to 1k. They covered a bit but refused to cover it all which was bs.

also have a huge list of other problems there. worst experience ever

This is normal and this is the SST Chattering. I usually dont hear it that loud unless its really cold outside.

my 09' RA does not sound like that... there is something wrong. Slight ticking yes... knocking like that no!
