My S-AWC service required light trips when I have been driving on the highway for about 30+ minutes on a 85°F+ days. The manual says it can come on in colder temps or when the pump fails, but for me it only comes on in hot weather. Anyone else ever have this problem?

I get this problem too!! I brought it in to be looked at and they said the code is for a failed awc pump, but he said mine was operating fine, but the code would trip. I checked all my fluid levels and they were fine. I will be changing my t-case and diff fluids just to be certain.. but on hot days something (my pump probably) will trigger the code.. I'll keep you posted on anyhting else I find.. but for now I am also at a loss.

it's great to know I am not alone. I will probably do the same the next time I am due for service. With it getting colder out, it doesn't really pose too much of a problem.

Guys, this is nothing new. The same thing happens on the ACD pumps that came on the IX's. The pumps fail to make the pressure when the oil thins out due to high outside temperatures. It will start to happen more frequently, until finally not making pressure at all at which point it needs replaced. So, either get ready to find a used one, or expect a nice $2k bill from you friendly local dealer to replace it!

hate to revive a post but this is the only one that has the same issue as mine.. when it is cold outside i have no blinking light ,but when the temp hits 60 to 65 or higher my tarmac light just blinks .. i could be sitting still and rev to 3500 rpm and it will start to blink. dealer will npot cover since i am flashed and have mods.. they pulled a code c161e ,and flashed the update on the car and now it only gets a code c161f.. please give me you thoughts ..

hey devo a close friend of mine also has an evo, he also gettin same sign randomly and the summer startin for us here (now 34deg C later 53). Anyways we gona change diff & trans oils soon. His car has done abt 50,000km. Will post once done.

oh forgot 2 mention his 08 evo is imported frm US.
