Hey everyone, new to this forum and mitsubishi evo's. I have what I believe is the rear differential out of an evo x, 2009 maybe? Does anyone know any specifics/ info on this unit?

Thanks

This is an Evo X / Ralliart transfer case, not a rear diff. It looks factory new so it's worth $2500+, maybe even $3k. I'd look up the dealer price and compare.

This brings up an interesting question, the Evo X and Ralliart transfer cases look the same from 08 on. I believe the Ralliart does not have the helical gear LSD front differential (Yes the front diff is in the transfer case, not the center diff, the center is in the tranny). Rather the RA has an open front diff- RA experts can you confirm this?

How can you tell the difference?

well just so you know, you have to follow the sales rules to be able to sell on here. Go ahead and read up on them before you try to sell anything. I know we set you up for that so no worries

Just got off the phone with my RA buddy, there is NO DIFFERENCE between the RA Transfer Case and the Evo X Transfer Case, they are both 100% the same. The RA has the same helical gear LSD front diff.

OP this fits 2008, 2010-2011 Evo X's and 08-11 RA's.

Here is the deal for Transfer Cases IMO: it's going to be very hard to tell what year any transfer case is from, unless the owner can verify it. Some point to 2010 being a bad year for the Transfer Case with "pin" problems, but I can't really verify this. They seem all the same. If your looking to get a replacement new is nice, but considering you can buy a slightly used one out of a wreck for $1500 and send it to Sheps or another specialist to have it looked at and perhaps modified for higher pin strength, etc. then new might not be a very good deal. There are a few on ebay all the time.

Does anyone know if the transfercases are different between auto's and manuals? How can one tell the difference (if any)...?

Thanks again

It's been brought up that they have different part numbers and a different axle

Most definitely different assemblies, they are NOT interchangeable between 5 spd and TC-SST.

This was bothering me, looked high and low to find some kind of difference between and SST transaxle and a 5mt transaxle.

In the manual, there is a seal that goes inbetween the 5mt and the transaxle. The SST does not use this O-ring.

If there is a difference, it is in the transaxle input shaft (which is a female spline that faces either transmisson). On the SST, there is an extra shaft that plugs into the female transaxle hole. The 5mt does not seem to have this. The center differentials are completely different, which on both the SST and the 5mt are the power output shafts.

Can anyone confirm the exact difference on the 5mt and the SST transaxles? Look in the female input port and snap a pic if you can.

Here are pics of the SST center diff output vs the 5mt output:

Here are some more pictures of the transfer case....looks like its for the SST?

I think if there is a third splined shaft (inner smallest hole) it is the SST version. The 5mt has a smooth third shaft. Anyone confirm this?
