If you haven't used last.fm before, it's an awesome site. Not only can it be used as an internet radio site (please don't just use it for that.. it's a waste), you can set it up to track your music listening habits (plugins for most media players.. built in to a bunch of Linux players such as Amarok), chart stuff, recommend new music, find people with similar music taste, find local events and talk with other people attending those events, etc.

I've been using it for months.. only issue is I do a lot of music listening in my car and garage and it wasn't being tracked. Now that I finally hooked up the ipod and aux-in adapter to my head unit and started using my ipod again, it can track it all (not with default ipod firmware.. maybe there's a way but I never looked into it.. I run rockbox firmware anyway to play FLAC files and it handles last.fm data logging) :)

Join the group everyone!!

It's the only way I keep up on local events. Just bought tickets for a Bright Eyes show in Rochester in November and tickets for a Coheed show end of october (after their new album drops) in Toronto :)

Joined. I don't totally get last.fm though. For instance, I can look up and artist and hear their music, but I feel like I can't ever find the specific song I'm looking for.

Well you can't just on-demand listen to any track you want for instance.. because if you could, the web site wouldn't be free ;)

Gotcha. I guess that's what I don't like about it.

Alternately, try spool.fm just to hear tracks.

Yeah you tell last.fm an artist you like or a song you like and it gives you similar music (if you give it an artist.. it will come up in the playlist very soon). Last.fm is a great way to get exposed to music that you'll probably really like. --I guess that part is way more compelling if you listen to the type of music I do which you can't get on the radio or 'mtv' lol

yeah i know wht you mean tht it will give you a similar genre but different artists.i'm not particular just to one type of music i like all as long as they are tasteful and not annoying.
