Yeah, we know the miata weighs less, but there are only a handful of new cars that weigh less than 2700lbs and the miata is one of them. Your AVERAGE car is ~3300lbs nowadays, and 2700 is well shy of that.

On top of that, you can't compare a tiny two seater 4 cylinder roadster to a supercar with a big engine. 2750lbs is a featherweight for a car of that class.

yeah.. not the fastest American sport car anymore. poor Viper. If anyone is so down in the dumps about their Viper not being the fastest american sports car anymore, go buy the Aero and give me the Viper, I'll take good care of it.

The Veyron is still much more of an accomplishment, because it can do 253mph and meanwhile it has a nice sound system, A/C, comfy seats, a generally pretty plush ride (not at those speeds of course), big shiny wheels, stunning styling (I know it's a purpose-built car, but the ultimate aero is just ghastly), etc.

Edit: I still can't stand the 'production car' thing.. Only 25 Aeros will be made, and that's not just the Ultimate Aero.. 'ultimate' is like a trim level.

Also I take back what I said about the Aero..
2007 models are heavier, with base model at 2850 lb, and Ultimate version at 2750 lb. Unlike previous year, both models have navigation system, 10-speaker audio/CD/DVD system, video/DVD screen, back-up camera, air-conditioning and trunk space as standard equipment.

Eh, sports cars and supercars kind of have different definitions. Sports cars generally can perform well in some aspect, supercars generally have untouchable performance with the exception of other sportscars and the Ariel Atom.

With sports cars, you can generally buy one off a lot. Now with new supercars/exotics, you have to special order it and wait like a year to get it.

I've seen in car of the Veyron on Top Gear.. maybe they'll test this some day, although as they said -- SST had a 71 year old do that top speed run, so they just chose someone who had nothing left to live for :P --not confidence inspiring.
