Last week a cop stopped me in my car. He asked me if I had a police record. I said, no but I have the new Beatles album. Cops have no sense of humor.

Thats a real dick move of him. I wouldnt have answered that prick. Just hand him my license and make him look it up for himself.
Did he leave after your comment or end up giving you some bogus ticket?

Why do people hate on cops so much? They're just doing their job....

I'd be happy if the ones near me just did their job. I had a cop follow me for about 2 miles then pull me over as I was ordering from the box at Burger King. He detained me for about 10 minutes and he didn't give me a ticket, all the while telling me how much of a nice guy he was for not.

I have no problem w/ cops, my friend & neighbor is an ex-cop. I just hate when they fabricate things. I was pulled over as well about a week ago, coming out of a movie rental place. I pulled out going about 40 in a 35, after I completely stopped. Soon after a cop got right on me & pulled me over (comically at a police supply store). He asked for my license & I admitted to speeding a bit (which surprised him), but he told me that I didn't fully stop & continued to slightly argue w/me. He then asked for my boyfriend's (passenger's) license as well. I told this to my ex-officer friend, who was then surprised & a bit pissed that an officer, w/o reason would ask for my bf's license.

I would respect cops if they earned the respect. I know your a cop and you seem like a cool one.

Its my personal experience with cops that leads me to hate them so much. I present myself as a proper person. I work in finance and try to dress like it without looking like I just came off wallstreet. A while back I was at a dunkin donuts one night on a road trip getting coffee with the girlfriend. It was probably around 1 or 2am. I was just walking around the parking lot with the girlfriend drinking coffee talking about the trip. Some cop comes up to us and curses us out telling us to go back home. Just pulls up and rolls down his windows. Doesnt ask who we are and what we are doing. Just "Get the F out of here...bla bla get your sht and go" then drives off. This is just the most recent experience. I have more but will spare you and dont want to waste my lunch break :-P
I know of one kid from my graduating class in HS that became a cop. Guess who it was. The only A-hole that absolutely no one liked. I keep in touch with some of his old friends and always hear how he abuses his power and still treats people like crap.
All the cops in my city and the surrounding cities are all fat slobs that abuse their power. I have yet to meet one decent one. I was an EMT for several years so I had time to meet just about each one since they have to go on calls with us.

Ok...

1-I'm pretty sure this didn't happen, as it's just a joke.

2-There is no "new" beatles album.

3-Cops don't call it a "police" record, they call it a criminal record.

Furthermore, how would that have been dick move? Cops ask questions...he wasn't accusing him of anything.

I'm with you on this one.. all my friends hate cops.. I just don't know why... I have my share of tickets all are justify. But for a fun story i was stopped once and while the cop was looking for his ticket book he hit my car...hahahahhahahaha. I needed to call another cop to file the hit... I never laughed so much in my life...

Yeah, cops ask questions...leading questions. I had to keep this state trooper in check at my brother's accident. My brother had never been in an accident and had banged his head hard enough on the steering wheel to break skin and the trooper says "Going a bit fast, eh?" when there was a 4 lane wide, 2 car long patch of black ice he had just called salt trucks to take care of.

I understand there's good ones and bad ones, I'm just waiting for the day I meet a good one. My wife works for the DA's office and I've met a number of cops as well as get stories every night. We even hang out on occasion with a friend of hers who's a cop/detective. Every single one of them, including the one we hang out with, makes me wonder if we'd be better off without them all together.

Yes, cops do ask questions. Stupid questions.

Some of my favorites...

1. Do you have any previous traffic violations?
(How about you tell me when you get back with my ticket)
2. Do you know why I pulled you over?
(If you pulled me over without knowing why, you fail at life)
3. Have you been drinking tonight?

This one DID happen.

Driving home from work three and a half years ago, south bound on Interstate 87 in the middle of Elmsford, NY 65MPH merged on the right lane with every car passing me. It's pitch black at around 11:30PM, I see the red and blues flash behind me. I pull it over...

"License and registration."
"Have you been drinking this evening?"

"Yes I have."

"Your tire touched the yellow line back there, step out of the vehicle." (I can't help but take the inside line everywhere :D)

So I get out, do their stupid follow the flash light with only your eyes test, then the breathalyzer test. It shows absolutely zero blood alcohol level.

"Sir, you said you had been drinking this evening."

"I have, I had an iced tea with my dinner and a bottle of water while I was closing registers."

His partner snorts and covers his mouth looking away. Mr. Super Trooper stares at me blankly, hands me my license and registration.

"Have a good evening."

You ask stupid questions you are bound to get smart ass answers. Cops ask stupid questions. Cops also break the law more than any civilian and mostly without penalty. They also help their friends and family break the law without penalty. I have no sympathy for any of them or their corrupt system.

Ain't it the truth. The guy I mentioned in my previous post once gave me a ride to pick up my car at the tuner shop. He put his blinker on and got in the turning lane and proceeded to drive 3 miles at about 65mph in a 45 zone. This was in a civilian vehicle as well. He said as long as he was eventually turning it was alright....sure it is.

LOL Don't you just love law enforcement? Whatever happened to leading by example? I guess they all conveniently miss that day of training academy.

With these guys it is more like "Do as I say, not as I do." I know somewhere there may be a good cop or trooper. But there is such an overwhelming amount of utter garbage that you can't blame people for categorizing.

How about then they brag about having a gun. :slaphead:
It's like you just know modesty isn't one of their virtues, LOL.

I could see it happening. Even if it is a joke this could easily be a reality.
I know there is no new beatles album which makes it a joke. But then again they can be like Tupac and still put out albums from the grave.
Police record and Criminal record are the same thing. Im sure each force has their own vocabulary but ultimately mean the same thing. You say tomato I say tomoto.
I think asking if you have a police record is judging and profiling. The cop is accusing him of being in trouble with the law before with just looking at him. Its like asking a black guy how to hotwire a car or asking your asian friend to build you a computer.

Ya i had a fucking cop rear end my old Dodge Charger completley totalling it!!! Oh well i got an EVO out of it =)!!!! (after almost a year without a car)

That's a bit of a stretch.

If someone has a criminal record, they're likely to commit a crime again, directly due to the fact that THAT INDIVIDUAL IS A CRIMINAL. This is not stereotyping, since you're going on what that particular person has done.

Being asian, on the other hand, doesn't inherently make you good with computers. That is stereotyping. Completely different story.

I had an asian guy stereotype himself to me at the mitsu dealership.. I had to laugh and told him that to me being an evo/tuner lover has nothing to do with being asian. O/T but w/e.

I've known a lot of good police men and women over the years. It's their jobs to be curious and I don't blame them for doing their jobs as long as they leave me alone cause I am perfect. :jk:

I AGREE!!!! I'm ex military, and this rule applies to almost every MP I met and every cop I've ever come across. MPs and Regular police generally become pigs because they were either bullies or were bullied "And now have power to bully everyone and their grandma" .... 9 out of 10 are dicks, plain and simple, and those 9 ruin it for the one genuine good cop. I feel like police totally abuse their power and feel that they have forgotten that "enforcing the law" doesn't mean you have to rape most citizens that are just making it by, for hundreds of dollars not to mention an increased insurance rate, for making a U-turn there or going 10 over there... Just because they're police they are essentially immune to this kind of harassment, but when they go home, they go over the speed limit and if they were subject to their own bizarre judgment "with their crap salaries" like the rest of us who live in the real world, they would beg for mercy and leniency. You can teachhhhh and enforce without taking away someone's paycheck.... without robbing a family of paying a bill or putting food on the table. It's just insane.

well if you follow the rules and dont break the law like speeding and stopping at stop signs then i guess they probably wouldnt pull you over. just like you they have a job to do so why not back off a little bit. im in the military now and i get irritated with cops too espessially the cops on base cause they are the one who are on the power trips. Being in a position like that would be difficult to say ok im not gonna give this person a ticket because i think he/she is telling the truth or fuck this im pissed so this person is going to jail

meh. I say you have differents sorts of people in any job. you get good and you get bad, bad luck goes around in swings and roundabouts.. if your lucky you'll get a good cop whos a decent human being - Ive met quite a few of those.. if your unlucky you'll get someones thats had a bad day or on a power trip. Ive met a couple of those too..

its life.. you get what you're given. :)

I got pulled by a real pissy cop today. He said Lisences and resgestration. I gave him my licenses but couldnt find my license. He said, "do you know why i pulled you?" i said no. he said, "you were swerving back there, have you had anything to drink tonight?" i had, but i was like no. he said, "are you sure?" i said yes. he pointed his flashlight straight in my eyes and said, "sir, dont lie to me." he eventually let me off, but still, why the hell would he go so in depth? and i was so close to saying, "i wasnt swerving and you were tailgating, so relax."
