: 2nd Gear kind of rough....

Anyone have any minor issues when shifting from 1st to 2nd...in terms of it slipping into position? I find that when I up shift to 2nd it gives a little trouble and I have to sort of jiggle it in neutral before sliding it down into position..

Could it be that the car is still brand new why the transmission is still kind of rough...only have 180miles on it?

I've been driving manual forever so I don't think my skills are playing in as a factor..

Cheers,
Zan

All the other gears transition smoothly.

well... jiggle in terms of = "sliding it into neutral and trying to find the correct path back into 2nd"... I guess it is just notchy

but is this a common topic for the Evo X transmission? Is there a way to fix it?

I think these cure that problem.

AMS EVO X under Hood shifter bushings

Should be the first MOD on any GSR.

Somebody was saying to change the oil in the transmission as well to stop the notchiness. I don't remember the name of it atm.

I just checked another section of the forum, and actually a lot of people are complaining about the gears being stubborn and having to replace the clutch/flywheel and transmission oil just after 2k miles on it.... Might just be a manufacturer defect with the stock clutch.

If its notchy then its expected. otherwise. try and accelerate and decelerate whilst in that troublesome gear ( watch it while you do it) does it move slightly by itself?

Nope, no major movements, once it slides into position its fine...just the transition of 1st to 2nd is somewhat aggravating... Guess I will replace the bushings with the AMS set and see how it shifts from there.

thats the usual notchiness reported by most users. I only get that now when its been very very cold.

same here. let us know how the install goes and any differences

In the process of the install, as we always do, the fluid was changed in the transmission and transfercase. We opted for our usual dose of Redline Fluids and in went the heavy shockproof in the TC while we used Redline MT90 for the transmission.

Greatest news of all is that it appears that the Redline MT90 has CURED the notchy grinding shifting from the factory's inability to choose the correct fluid for the Evo X application.
