To the best of my knowledge it is a factory Mitsubishi Electronics unit. I could be wrong, they may use some sort of supplier, but I am almost certain that it was developed by Mitsubishi Motor's sister company.

Yes, I'm pretty sure that it's a Mitsubishi unit (like the "Rockford" units in the non-navs).

I wouldn't blame Rockford for actually designing/producing any of the actual components in the car.

Yeah, Rockford just provides the factory amp, speakers and sub on the SSS equipped cars. They aren't responsible for the head units, although they place the Rockford Fosgate logo on the base head unit and the MMCS as well (I peeled mine off as soon as I took delivery of the car, LOL).

My 2005 Matrix XRS had a JBL system in it similar to the Evo's SSS, just speakers, amp and sub. They also placed a JBL Logo on the head unit.

Remember the "Suspension By Lotus" Isuzus back in the day? They were far from having Lotus Built Suspension. Had to do with licensing a name and they may have had a hand in saying "Use this spring rate, this strut, and make the sway bars like this".

OFF TOPIC , but mevox how much did u get ur MR for? cuz the mitsu here where i live. they trying to sell it to me for 41915 but originally they wanted 45915, they knocked it down a 4k cause i brought the GSR from them. but i feel i can get it lower like i did on the GSR which i payed 33k out the door.

You traded in your gsr for the MR? Why? Also you paid 33k out the door? thats pretty good, what packages did it have on it? or was it all basic?

I got the sound n package GSR. and NO im not trading in the GSR for the MR. Im just getting another evo for me n the gf. The GSR will be down soon for major upgrades.

yup, the gsr is like the main racing one. MR is gonna be like quick yet family friendly
