I came so close to buying this, but I really just couldnt justify the price in my head. It looks amazing, but 1400 on another web site. I just cant do for an intake and 20whp. Its freakin beautiful though. EVO-R needs to jump on it and makes some nice Carbon Fiber parts like this to replace the stock cover and snorkle. I'd buy it in a sec.

It's all good, the AEM is a great piece and for all we know makes more power than the GruppeM and it still looks great. But absolute best gains aren't my agenda and neither is the "bling" factor as I am not a big fan of the carbon fiber look. I just really love the desgin and the intake box's smooth lines. At the $1400-$1800 price I was already tempted to jump in for it, and more likely then not would have. But at this price, I was like :eek:.

One note however, someone on EvoM installed this intake and found it great on his untuned car. But when he flashed his ECU he experieced idling issues. It turned out that there is a spacer that comes with the intake that needs to be left out of the install process if the car is tuned. As to whether different tunes and tuning methods will have different results remains to be seen. So it will be trial and error I guess :)

They say 25Hp, but that was probably with the original factory tune (not the updates). My guesstimate would be like 5-10hp with a tune on a dyno, I could be right or I could be wrong. But the way it is designed it seems to be more functional as you are moving and air is being forced into the duct, with it's smooth bends of the air box I think it will benefit the top half of the RPM range the most.

Over on EvoM we got into the discussion about what makes more on a Dyno. Yes for a lot less money you can probably get more power. This just happens to be more my style that's all, it's a preference thing. I respect and appreciate anyone else's choice to feel differently and pick another item over this one :thumbup:

I agree I don't even want to mention it to him as he will probably be pretty ticked. I was going to wait even longer to start my mods, but with such a discount I couldn't resist myself. When I install this and my piping I will take pics and post a review up.

I will def have to take out this "spacer" wouldent want any idle problems or cel's.
