"Reluctantly the MMC team offered up 0-100km/h times of 5.2 seconds for the SST and 5.0 flat for the manual. Totally unscientific attempts to match those at the Tokachi proving ground produced a 5.8 for the SST and 5.4 for the manual; close enough to suggest the Mitsubishi figures are no exaggerations."

If that is the case, than screw SST, but I am still waiting for the final product. It doesn't make sense for the SST to be slower than the manual.

Then again, in other reviews the mitsubishi rep did tell them the SST ECU still has some tuning to do.

anyways, I AM SECOND ON THE LIST SOOPAH! MINE WILL BE ARRIVING IN JAN! YAHH! :)

But the other review posted recently from the Australian magazine Motor Mag said the opposite:

"As it is, I don't think there'll be too much in is, and I managed to record a 5.8-second 0-100 time in the five-speed (with a fairly ordinary launch as the Japanese were gritting their teeth again) and 5.4 in the SST."

You are second on what list? Which dealer are you buying from, which transmission did you choose, and what colour did you ask for?

Ack, mixed reviews

anyways, I went all the way from Richmond to Maple Ridge to put down another deposit. The sales rep phoned his boss and told me the first evo should arrive to their dealership in late dec! second one will arrive within the following 2-3 weeks.

I picked sst and black/gun metal. On the paper I told him to sell it to me at MSRP and deposit totally refundable at anytime, just for safety :)

Maple Ridge, eh, you're gonna go pick up your brand new evo and be stuck for an hour in stop and go traffic trying to get back over the Pitt River bridge!
:jk:
Congrats on finding an earlier slot. We'll have to set up some meets for the MetroVan Evo owners. I won't race your SST with my 5MT, 0.4 seconds is not worth the effort. But if I ever bring the Evo to the Mission Raceway we'll see what she can do.

BTW, where are these journalists coming up with 0-100 km/h times? Are they relying on GPS info or a stop watch? I do not think they are at an actual strip with timers, or are they?

Hahaha, 0.97 g on the skidpad will come to use when I am stuck on the Pitt River bridge!

I am still not sure if I should go for SST, maybe I will opt for a manual later, we'll see.

I am sure the time they recorded is from a stop watch. I believe the quarter miles for both SST and manual will be lower when the reviewers get the final product.

We definitely need to gather the EVO owners of Vancouver and meet up, I think it will be interesting to see the age of people. I predict most owner will be asian, like myself, haha.

Because there are too many variables...

-driver
-temperature
-transmission
-altitude
-configuration of specific car (RS vs MR, etc)
-condition of road surface / grip

Aren't turbocharged cars prune to yield inconsistent 0-60 time?

Aren't turbocharged cars prune to yield inconsistent 0-60 time?

yeah but it all depends how they drive the car.i.e the driver has to be consistent as well.like dino said there are different factors to have the same time all the time everything has to be perfect or near perfect.

prune? prone?

Well, yes, to an extent. I think since their performance is more impacted by environmental variables (temperature, etc) it would generally make them a little less consistent.

Thanks for the correction!

Thats what I thought.

I bet they used fingers to measure time.

LOL. Yes, method of measuring time is a variable as well.

Conduct a poll! We already know everyone's age, transmission and colour preference, etc. I'm a caucasian with an interest in small displacement boosted engines, so let's rice it up! (sorry, is that offensive, my asian friends always make fun of riced up hondas with fart cans on them, and those are typical in Richmond).

Say, what's the deal with those cutesy little car air freshners? Do your cars smell or something?:jk:

That is atypical.
