Mods, move if you think necessary.

Popped the MR’s track cherry today at the Autobahn in Joliet, IL (http://www.autobahncountryclub.net/ (http://www.autobahncountryclub.net/)). I wanted to see if the SST would hold up, and it did just fine. The full track was open today which is 3.56 miles long with 21 turns. Ran it in S-Sport mode for approx 6-7 laps at a time, 3 times with 20 min rest intervals. The engine temp also did not budge from the center mark.
The car is in completely stock form, spare and all.

Impression: Took a little getting used to compared to my previous track car (600rwhp Z), but it was fun. I need to get used to accelerating through an entire turn. Expected body roll for a street car, moderate corner entry understeer. Brakes are always on my mind at the track, and Iam particularly suspicious of OEM set-ups, but these worked flawlessly. No fade, nice feel.

I turned off phase one of the AWC for the last session bcs you do feel the interrupt of the system on some hard turns while pushing it. You’ve got the pedal down, but it’s doing its pwn thing for a few moments. I only got 6 laps in with the phase I of the AWC off, but I think I like it better.

Back to the track in the AM to run some more laps on the tranny. If all goes well, next stops Robi and AMS.
Cheers.

awesome!thanks for your review.
This thread is likely to be moved into the Track section but glad to hear your track experience went well.
Post some pics up of the day or of your car and good luck with your mods!

Papi, you could move? JK, I know I am lucky to have nearly unlimited access to a track for a good part of the year.

I will push the MR further for us old guys.

Cheers.

That wouldn't be street racing, right?

We do not tolerate discussion of street racing on EvoXForums.

Nice. Good to hear that the TC-SST is holding up. I'm a trackrat, and I'm planning on buying an MR to eventually turn into a track car. I'm just worried about the MR tranny.

Very cool! Hopefully something can be done to the sst to allow for substantial modification without it falling apart, keep us updated!
You mentioned previously having a z, z32 or z33? Hard to tell at this point, but how do you think the potential of the MR compares to the z?

It's a '90 Z32. The MR stacks up great against it, eveb though it is not as fast...yet. The Z is incredibly fast, but at a price, financial and the fact that it was gutted inside, had no A/C, no radio, etc. I also had to do all the work on it since there are less and less reliable guys around with Z32 knowledge. The MR is under warranty:thumbup:

Yeah you definitely need to do all the work on a z32 yourself! I learned that the hard way. Congrats on movin up tho, its good to hear you're satisfied with the MR!
