: T-Mobile G1
Katya4me 09-23-2008, 07:15 PM Launched today, pre-sale to existing T-Mobile customers right now. I am intrigued. http://www.t-mobileg1.com
Any major reasons not to get it? I only use a single GMail account 90% of the time and I don't listen to music or watch video on my phone. Nor do I need to sync w/ Outlook and I am out of contract right now.
ddawg1130 09-23-2008, 09:54 PM I wouldn't get it for the same reason I didn't/don't want the Iphone. It's the first phone that google has produced and I bet it is gonna suffer from the same problems that Iphone did/is and that all the other major manufacturers have resolved.
Wait and get that new blackberry with the touch screen.
MrPurpleEvo 09-23-2008, 09:54 PM wow...there really trying to do the iphone now...
proracer718 09-23-2008, 09:57 PM Looks good, and my contract will be up around that time when it comes out, maybe I just found my new phone...lol
Katya4me 09-24-2008, 01:37 AM I wouldn't get it for the same reason I didn't/don't want the Iphone. It's the first phone that google has produced and I bet it is gonna suffer from the same problems that Iphone did/is and that all the other major manufacturers have resolved.
Wait and get that new blackberry with the touch screen.
Don't like Blackberries and I'm a Google whore. :) I think I'm in for 1...
jacknjilloff 09-24-2008, 01:44 AM looks sweet ill try one too i have both a crackberry and an iphone i like things on both this looks to combine the best of both
Kooldino 09-27-2008, 06:03 PM The server is down. :(
Kooldino 09-27-2008, 07:45 PM This phone looks pretty hot. Piqued my interest for sure.
Full QWERTY KB?
What browser will it use? Chrome?
Katya4me 09-27-2008, 07:56 PM I think it's being called Chrome lite, but basically yes.
Mr. Win 09-27-2008, 08:36 PM Yes full qwerty...
I would tell you to wait... perhaps until march. Google is giving this thing almost no support and is completely relying on 3rd party. The phone has a lot of promise and the software capabilities make the combination of features close to unlimited.
Kooldino 09-28-2008, 03:46 AM I may wait...but I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this. This may be what I've been looking for.
Katya4me 10-14-2008, 01:50 PM 1 week!!! Yeah, I signed up for a black one, and a good thing too as my SE M600i seems to have decided to commit suicide this week. :( I've got a POS Nokia as a backup but it's pretty useless.
proracer718 10-15-2008, 01:02 AM I get mine 11/10 since I just ordered it yesterday. Can't wait to get it since my SK3 is a POS!
Katya4me 10-16-2008, 12:44 AM Ahh!!! People are getting tracking numbers and I haven't yet!!!! I head out of town Friday night and I'd be over the moon if it arrived before then.... Please, please, please...
Katya4me 10-22-2008, 09:56 AM I got it!!!! Picked it up from UPS last night and it is now finished charging, so far setup has been a piece of cake, but I'll post more thoughts as I actually play with it. :)
ak47m203 10-22-2008, 12:41 PM i don't think it can record videos!!!
Katya4me 10-22-2008, 01:15 PM There's some discussion on that right now, but as the Android Marketplace isn't fully up and running, hopefully some apps will come out soon that eliminate that issue. Mylame concern right now is that I want an e-book reader. :)
ak47m203 10-22-2008, 06:28 PM but still no video, no micrsoft exchange. but cheaper, who cares.

MrPurpleEvo 10-22-2008, 06:59 PM too bad its by T-Mobile......i use to have them...wow..i didnt get any bars anywhere!!!
ak47m203 10-22-2008, 10:19 PM went to T mobile, $179 for 2 years contract. my verdict is build quality is so cheap plastic, so light, the screen i think will not last and it will have so many scratch not unlike iphone it's mirror like screen is better, the buttons are cheap too, sometimes it's hard to press and not that responsive, the track ball are so sensitive. i phone is way better i think except for the price, plus no vidoes, they have you tube i think they should able to capture videos and then you can easily upload it to you tube, i tried to browse msn vidz, it's not supported who wants msn anyway, but i think the google features and browsing is fast is cool. maybe the 2nd generation will be better. and then there is this weird shape near the menu(lower part) it's not totally flat to the screen it's incline, it's just weird.will i buy it, ahhh maybe not still i like iphone. is there a video capture in phone, i don't know.

Kooldino 10-29-2008, 01:46 AM It looks like it's got potential...just needs time and polishing.
I like a lot of it's features, it just needs a little work.
Katya4me 10-29-2008, 01:57 AM I think there's an update coming after the first of the year. I'm having fun with it. :)
Katya4me 10-31-2008, 12:35 PM T-Mobile 3G is finally popping up in DC. :) Started rolling out yesterday, had it almost all the way on the commute this morning, but still Edge for the most part in my office. The roll-out date according to WashPost is late Nov., so I can't complain in the least.
proracer718 11-03-2008, 02:20 AM Just got my phone, and so far love it, deff a lot of cool features on it.
Katya4me 11-24-2009, 02:40 AM 1 year later and Google rolled out Navigation to the 1.6 as an early Thanksgiving present. :-D Had the phone over a year now and still love it. Yay!!!
Jeremy@SSP 11-24-2009, 02:47 AM I had 3 bad ones in less than 90 days? made no sense....it was like they sent me my broken phone right back to me? All software problems they said. Had the phone for like 7 months and no problems then all the sudden it started buzzing, and freezing up on me. Was very happy when they upgraded me to the new MY TOUCH 3-G for free.
ak47m203 11-24-2009, 04:42 AM droid is better...
