For those who have drove their evo on the track. do you leave ASC on? Click it once (turn off). or hold down till it beeps? How is handling in each mode? I don't want to take turns and have the ASC kicking in to spoil the fun, but I'd also like to be able to take the car home in one piece. Any advice as to, off or on?? How's the car handle stock on the track? I'm hoping to grab some great photos and pics

I think Gates drove there and set a track record. Of coarse he has robi spec and a AMS set up car, but you could send him a PM and see what he says about set up.

I'm not an expert by anymeans with the car, but I would guess that ASC shouldn't kick on unless you do something you shouldn't be doing, or something happens that shouldn't.

I dont know about turning the ASC all the ways off, but I know it will kick in to much sometime when Im just doing some spirited back road driving. As long as it is dry I atleast turn the first step off. As far as turning it al the way off It probably matter how good you are at the track. Since this is you first time there you could change between a couple laps and see what you think. I would definitely start with the first step off though.

I'd leave it on while you gain a foothold on the track's configuration. If you find yourself gaining confidence after a few laps, try it with it off. I'm confident you'll find its better left on though. That way you concentrate on your line a bit more while you build confidence and speed.

well, I have been to road america before- just a different car. I have noticed sometimes during spirited driving on the streets that the ASC kicks in ( maybe a little premature?) when it's on. How much of an effect will clicking it once have? and holding it down? any worries of the back end actually getting around? I heard that the evo actually has a tendancy to oversteer as opposed to most cars like the sti that understeer.
I' m not a pro, so having that little safety net is always a good feeling. I probably won't be tracking the car as hard as it could be driven- it's not a race, just touring sessions. more of a legal and safe way to feel what the car is really made for and how it really handles. not to mention i'll be rolling up there with some stang gt's (friends) that think their cars are bad ass. (I'm no pro, but I'm definately a better driver than them, in fact last year I whooped on a friend that had a 05 modded stang gt, while I was driving my R32 (stock).

Hold down the ASC button until your hear the chime. It will make a world of difference. Also if your tires start losing their traction after a number of laps, run the car in gravel mode. I started losing traction on mine after about 20 laps.

That's more of a tire issue. After enough laps your street tires turn into sludge. At that point you're better off just stopping as you'll just be progressively getting slower and run the risk of blowing a tire.

Off. It will drive you nuts on, especially in low speed turns, and it may even wear your pads down faster.
