Tokyo Motor Show: Do the Evolution, Mitsubishi’s Rally Star Live From Tokyo
"Though we’re sure that almost all loyal WINDING ROAD readers caught the sinful details (http://news.windingroad.com/countriesmarkets/japan/the-legend-continues-mitsubishi-officially-launches-the-lancer-evolution-x/) when they first debuted, we knew it wouldn’t be the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show without a little Evolution X action.
Even thought this one’s been out of the bag for a while, it was awfully hard to chase the fervent Mitsu fans away from (or in some cases out of) the new Evo long enough to get a clean shot. Proof positive that the tenth Evolution is the sexist to date.
Enjoy the Mitsubishi hotness, live and direct from the Tokyo Motor Show."

_Chris_ 10-24-2007, 11:48 AM And its rival...
Tokyo Motor Show: 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI
http://news.windingroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/_a__1711.jpg
"You’ve already seen live shots of the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X (http://news.windingroad.com/countriesmarkets/japan/tokyo-motor-show-do-the-evolution-mitsubishis-rally-star-live-from-tokyo/), so it’s only fair to put up the live shots of the WRX STI right away to prevent any Subie fans from claiming we have a favorite.
There were tons (http://news.windingroad.com/body-stylesmarket-segment/sportsgts/first-official-look-at-the-2008-subaru-impreza-wrx-sti/) and tons (http://news.windingroad.com/body-stylesmarket-segment/sportsgts/one-more-time-from-the-top-another-dark-sti-image-from-subaru/) of sneak previews (http://news.windingroad.com/countriesmarkets/japan/the-teasing-continues-subaru-drops-sti-uncloaked-sti-photos/) of the 2008 WRX STI, but nothing compares to seeing the new car in the flesh. It doesn’t quite look breathtaking in silver, but we think a black car trimmed out with gold rims and some aftermarket taillights could look pretty sweet."

Kansei 10-24-2007, 12:28 PM I'm sorry but if it really comes with suspension that high or tires that small something is really wrong.
Wheel gap MUST be less than tire sidewall height or it just looks all unbalanced.
Is that a three point strut tower brace I see? yum

ak47m203 10-24-2007, 01:48 PM yeah that gap is like an SUV or a rally car. an 1 inch less is better. i think the gtr steal the show. any nurburg numbers on evo x. i search the web but no data found.
_Chris_ 10-24-2007, 01:49 PM BLACK GSR...

ak47m203 10-24-2007, 01:50 PM any gray or grey...
Kooldino 10-24-2007, 02:50 PM Man, I really hate the wheels on the GSR.
_Chris_ 10-24-2007, 02:59 PM HMMM.
Look the interior shot of the BLACK. The one with the hood up. It has the Padde shifter(SST). Now look the the Black exterior photo. The one with GSR wheels(Enkei).
I thought the SST comes with BBS wheels.
Same car OR could there be two Black cars in the show?
MDMitsuX 10-24-2007, 03:05 PM HMMM.

remember though, it's jdm...the japanese packaging is different than the usdm packaging will be...in japan you can get a gsr with sst...in fact, mitsu japan's website has sst as an option on all the gsr packages...the premium gsr package in japan is basically what our MR technoloy package is going to be...but the gsr premium can still be 5sp with bbs wheels, leather recaros, hid's, navi, suspension and brake upgrades...so it's probably a gsr high performance package with sst...
ak47m203 10-24-2007, 03:14 PM Man, I really hate the wheels on the GSR.
if that is graphite grey it will look better.
k-lea 10-24-2007, 03:15 PM I think the STi looks better. :(
I know, I know..
It just doesn't look like a whale that is getting ready to feed on some plankton.
TriStateEvo 10-24-2007, 03:54 PM Chris, the JDM configuration of the cars, setup-wise, trim level-wise and color-wise, are totally different than what we'll be getting here in the U.S. Remember, there is no MR in Japan.

you look like a whale.
I see what you mean though, with the mouth looking like it is ready to suck up some stuff, but that's good, since that's where the intercooler is :)
The STi looks like someone regurgitated a corolla and then tacked on a poorly-planned widebody kit.
The interior is even blah, though a massive quality improvement over the former Imprezas.
The Evo is WAY more upscale than the STi, they definitely won't have identical customer bases like the current model. Looking at these production model photos and then the photos of the STi, the STi looks like a child's toy.

Good point. I forgot about that.
DaemonSadi 10-24-2007, 06:16 PM The high-end GSR does come with the BBS wheels right? Because the regular GSR wheels suck...
And that black looks gorgeous! Shame it would be such hard work to keep it looking that pretty.

USDM GSR - ENKEI Wheels
USDM MR - BBS Wheels
Jackygor 10-24-2007, 06:30 PM Phantom black for so soooo much win.
Thanks for the post =)

Overall, I agree, but I must say that the fit and finish of the STi interior is definitely nicer than the evos.
k-lea 10-24-2007, 06:50 PM Eh, I'd still buy the STi over the EVO.
I'm just biased like that.
Kansei 10-24-2007, 06:53 PM You're also the one who had an MSM and bought a GTO :P
k-lea 10-24-2007, 06:54 PM I still have the MSM along with GTO.
Those apples are rather niiiiice.
I never drive the GTO though, hahah.
TeamEvo 10-24-2007, 07:58 PM looks to me like a set of 285/30-18 DOT-R tires can be slapped on without mods :D
is300 10-27-2007, 06:17 AM look like another black Evo for me
_Chris_ 10-29-2007, 02:05 PM Video from the show...Im dizzy.
