Okay here is the deal, about a month ago I went to the track and on my final test run I ran the best I have ever ran which was 13.0 @ 106
Here is the video of that run.....
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v249/proracer718/?action=view&current=MOV00661.flv

Well since that was my last run of the day, I parked the car and didn't noticed anything was wrong. Leaving the track I went to step on it a little and the RPM's shot up but the car didn't go anywhere so I knew the clutch was done. I couldn't be mad cause I had 16K miles on the car and have launched the car a few times so it has held up pretty good. Now keep in mind with all those miles the tires are worn down but I guess with the slipping clutch it held okay. That run where I went 13.0 @ 106 I had a 1.7 60'.

I have since then installed a ACT XT PP with a 6 puck sprung clutch disc and a ACT street lite flywheel. I have broken in the clutch properly and have put about 8** miles on it.
The problem I am having now is that I think since the clutch is grabbing so much better, that now I have wheel spin due to the tries being a little worn out. Would that be something that would happen??

The reason I am thinking that is now I cant seem to get a better 60' then a 1.9 and with the weather being so much colder then when I ran the 13.0 run, I would think the car would run better but seems like I can't get it to go any better. My best run with the new clutch is a 13.1 @105 with a 1.9 60'.

Can anyone give me some advice or suggestions???

Also another question I have is, I have been looking at these tires...
http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/strip.php?item=ETStreetRadialII&sku=3780R&size=P245/40R18&type=SS

but know people are telling me that, with the clutch I have and those tires I will damage the transfer case and maybe something else....... Can anyone shed some light on that please.

wheelspin will definately effect your et. Those tires don't look to bad. I personaly would just stay away from slicks. Just remember it pretty much comes down to hard you launch the car. Hard launch with slicks will get you a broken axle or worse. I'm gonna stick with street tires.

Yep. Your clutch will be grabbing harder - this is expected.

1. Is the track prepped? (was it prepped when you slammed out that flat 13?)

I wouldnt buy slicks unless you are a hardcore dragster or really commited to the drag scene.

Might just take you getting used to the new clutch for your times to fall.. you certainly should be bettering your previous times..

2. What are your other mods?

The track at E-town is usually always prepped and both times I ran were in events so they were deff prepped.
Not looking to really buy a full slick but maybe those MT street radials, since I do go to the track a lot and since my civic isn't ready I been having all the fun with the evo. So basically yea I am a very committed drag racer...lol
Gonna hit up the track tomorrow to get some more seat time in with the car and see what I can do.

Other mods are K&N cone filter, TiC catback and Ivey Ecutek tuned then after I was tuned I added a UR DP and TP. Car made 320whp 308tq after being tuned and before adding the DP and TP.

Car rev's to a little pass 8000 rpm, well I don't have new tires, I'm still on the stock tires which have 16K miles on them. The tires in the front look to be more worn then the rear, the center line on the front tires are not even visible anymore.

Still just think at 13.1 or 13.0 you are faster than the new Shelby 500 or new Challenger SRT8, but I agree Ive seen with just an tune from Ivey alone a car that ran a 12.33. You should be in the 12s probably just need to get used to the clutch.

Maybe since the clutch grabs so hard, it won't allow you to slip it which hurts you on the launch?

Or perhaps the FW hurt you?

This is what I have been thinking, since the tires are a bit bald, and the clutch was slipping @ my launch the car didn't grab so hard to everything gripped smoothly.
Now with the new clutch grabbing so hard when launching, that now its causing the tires to try and grip more and the tread is not enough.

That's one thought I have, but its just a thought.

or like some say maybe it's just getting use to the new clutch. I guess I'll be back @ e-town friday night for some more practice. Just still there is something not right with the car itself.
