Does all this mean that Mitsu is actually going back into rally?

i think they will and they should abd they are also tempted, probably it's just their trategies for the subaru to to relax and then... what's the point of having a new technology... go evo, go evo.

Two rally cars of the future have made their first public appearance in Japan as the 14th round of the FIA World Rally Championship gets into gear.
Both Mitsubishi and Subaru used their home rally to unveil the new cars.
First under the spotlight was Subaru as its performance division STI presented the long awaited 2008 version Impreza Group N car in the Obihiro service park.
It is due for FIA homologation on January 1, 2008, and cars are ready for distribution to competition drivers worldwide, including Production car World Rally Championship competitors. The new car is wider by 55mm, with a wheelbase 85mm longer than the existing car and reduced front and rear body overhang. There is substantial change to the front suspension, new double wishbone rear suspension and new electronically controlled throttle systems.
Next off the blocks was the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X, prepared for the first time in Group N form.?This car is not destined for the special stages as quickly as the Subaru, however, because the date for FIA homologation is not settled.
The car will be allowed to run in national Japanese rallies throughout 2008, but international use must wait for the second half of 2008 or 2009.
Like the Subaru, this is a radical new design. It sports a stiffer body, thanks to integrating the roll cage with the bodyshell. The suspension has been uprated, the braking system improved and the engine has been electronically developed with a dedicated exhaust system to match.
Hideaki Miyoshi is to drive this prototype during Rally Japan as a course opening car.
