I've used all but Zaino.. I know if I use Zaino I'll spend hundreds of dollars on supplies every time I wax my car :P

I do like Zymol, it's probably what I'll use before winter (oh wait crap, it's snowing right now, too late :P )

I use turtle wax ice between waxings because it's so darn easy to apply.

Dont need to spend much.
I bought a bottle of Z5 and Z2.
I used dish fluid to wash the car.
Chamois to dry.
Wax applicator (comes free with the Z5/Z2).
Microfiber cloth for the finishing touches.

Each bottle should last you 14-18 applications.

I've used Zymol for years and has seen it work wonders on some of the cars we've had. Especially the 82 Lancia Zagato my dad had for a while. When we bought it, it was so oxidized that it looked pink. After a little bit of cleaning and elbow grease, it was bright red again.

If I'm going step by step from clay to finish, I used all Meguiars stuff on the Honda. I guess it all depends on what is on the shelf, and how much I want to do.

I'm a die hard Meguiars fan when it comes to anything for the car. Even when I was going to school for auto body, we used mostly Meguiars products.

Read the review above and you'll see why Meguiars waxes are mediocre at best.

that doesnt matter if you wax it every month, as i do. for the price difference, i can wax 4x more times than the others

That's the difference between you and me.

I don't have time to wax my car monthly, so I'll pay more for the product that I only have to use once.

Furthermore, even if you did it monthly, the Zaino holds up better to water and such as well.

and the zaino costs 4x more. i usually boost it inbetween waxings with nxt quick wax

plus one on the zaino holding better to water meguiars goes away quick in rainy season.

been using Mothers twice a month. I have no idea if its' the shit or not I've never researched wax lol. Living in such a extreme climate you'd think I'd be all over it. Truth is I drive the truck during crummy weather while the baby stays in the crib (garage covered)

I do use the clay each time. I have a full set of quality micro fiber cloths. Car looks pimp for about a week until the dust takes over

Good to see someone start a wax thread:rock:to help me get my head outta my ass and back to detailing. My latest routine is to just blast it at the hand wash twice a week and blow dry it on the freeway (90+ : no micro fiber towels to clean). Most of the time she looks pretty damn good. I just need to get in the mood to wax more often

claying every single time you wax is overkill...

clay needs to be done a minimum of twice a year, and i would say no more than 1 every two months (which if you live in an extreme climate is what you should be doing...)

It does seem overkill....but not if you live next to Interstate 80 and drive it every single day through a friggin' BUG STORM:mad: lol. Yes I live in the desert a stones throw from the big 80'. Bug headquarters USA. 40 miles + a day. I get all the cool bloody bug splotches you could imagine. My WW X looks like 'art work' after a 20 mile summer evening blast down bug alley.

I have perfected the art of Clay Bar, Polish and Wax. I have Clay elbow' haha

they make tar and bug removers that remove bugs so you dont have to clay the car... you just spray it on the paint, let it dwell, and rinse it off, then proceed with your normal washing routine, it will remove the wax, but if your waxing anyway its not that big of a deal.

just my .02

Yeah I've tried all that stuff. Maybe I'll give it another shot. I gotta' tell ya' there are some big ass 6 oz crickets out here. They make a big bloody green, orange boogery splash. Gnarly green flies everywhere mixed in with endless ginormous moths that would blow your mind. Maybe what I really need is a better 'car wash' product to start off with

what you could try, is using a foam gun, with a proper shampoo.
http://autogeek.net/foam-gun.html

this is essentially used in between the initial rinse, and the car wash. its a pre soak that loosens and removes alot of the dirt particles on the paint, and potentially could be what your looking for...

MooseX

Yeah a foam gun. My girlfreind has one of these...except she doesn't use it for washing her car:godance:.

I'll check it out

Meguiars Gold class here. Never tried zaino, but i think im going to this year.

I've used everything over the years, but now use a combo of Meguiars and Griots Garage stuff. The Gold Class Meguiars is an amazing product for the money and I use it after the paint is cleaned with a clay bar with instant detailer and buffed with Griots polishes on their random orbital buffer system. Between waxes I use instant detailer (I prefer the Meguiars but buy the Griots 'cause I can get it by the gallon). Another terrific product that saves my car during the long Winter months is Liquid Lustre Pink Wax:rock::
http://www.pinkwax.net/catalog/index.php?cPath=22

I first found this being sold at the Hot Rod Autorama Show a few years back and have lost a couple of bottles to friends "borrowing" it. It is an unbelievable cleaner wax, and I don't believe in cleaner waxes because typically they suck and do great damage to your paint. I was at a car show and saw a guy using it on a classic vehicle as a touch-up during the day for bird poop, etc. and he said the same thing-can't beat it for quick touch-ups and the shine is incredible.

Oh and the Griots Garage spray wax is also a great Summertime "between waxing" product. wash your car and simply spray it on while it is wet and then buff it with terry towels. looks great and smells even better. A friend of mine tipped me off to this stuff and seriously he went on and on about the freakin' smell...but it's true. The smell alone is worth using it. No really.
