: Samsung SCH-i760... Should I?
Rosshole 11-08-2007, 07:51 PM I have never wanted a smartphone because I never wanted to pay the monthly rape me fee to use the features....
But now I can use the features for free with wi-fi (provided I am in a wifi zone or my home wireless range)
I will be using the phone as a PDA and to sync my calender and contacts (and occasional web browsing) and obviously to talk to people.
My question is, will I be overwhelmed by the phone? I am no computer genious, and I read these posts about all kinds of phone issues from Kansei, and I just want to know if something like this would be wasted on me?

Katya4me 11-08-2007, 08:14 PM Do you use a PDA now?
Rosshole 11-08-2007, 08:19 PM I used to use a palm when I was in college (old school early years palm) and with my schedule getting more hectice once again, I need the calender to know my schedule.
Katya4me 11-08-2007, 08:21 PM If you think you will use the Smartphone features and you don't need to buy a data plan to get it, go for it.
Rosshole 11-08-2007, 08:22 PM me thinks it will be a good idea!!

k-lea 11-08-2007, 08:29 PM Personally, I don't think you'll be overwhelmed at all. Just stick to the places you know and understand. PDA's are really not all that complex until you start going into certain areas with them. Everything is pretty self explanatory. Hi2u manuals!
Here is how I use my phone a daily basis:
*Calendar
*Calculator
*Alarm
*Notes
*Contacts (phone calls, obviously)
*Texting
*Email
*Chatting
*Occasional Internet Look-up
*Sync
*GPS (while driving)
They are neat to have and they are cool to carry around. I get asked all the time why I even care to have a phone like mine, I just giggle and hold it closer. I'm in love with my phone.
Rosshole 11-08-2007, 08:43 PM I will not be paying the service, except for the first month (for a discount)
thanks for the advice Kristin
Liquid_Ag 11-08-2007, 09:30 PM ohhh you will use it for that month and get hooked
Liquid_Ag 11-08-2007, 09:30 PM that phone is REALLY neat btw.
Kansei 11-08-2007, 10:52 PM yeah at first I was like "wait what?" with that keypad orientation, but it's damn smart. not that I ever need a keypad, that's what on-screen ones are for.
Samsung makes great phones too so it'll probably be nice. definitely a 'try before you buy' thing though.
+1 for the Palm OS being amazing.
I had the original Palm.. then the Palm III, then a Palm V (omg such a nice design, thanks IDEO), then a Palm VII (one of the first pdas with cellular data). Then I got a Visor Prism (I think the first color Palm), then I decided that I didn't need the color screen and the battery life was horrid so I got the Visor Edge.. which is to this day my favorite PDA.
Of course I also had my share of windows CE devices. The Casio .. I think A11 running Windows CE 1.0 (4mb memory, opened like a mini laptop, etc), then the Windows Handheld PC 2003 (or was it 2000, I don't remember the version number) HP Jornada 720.. dude that shit cost me 1400 dollars when I was a freshman or sophomore in high school. pimp as shit though!!! sadly there's like 2 aftermarket apps for it. I still use it as a 'bedside computer'.. it has wifi (through a card), a 4gb IBM MicroDrive, and a nice bright screen.
omg I <3 PDAs and such.
Rosshole 11-09-2007, 12:47 PM Ehh... I decided........
Nope, not worth $350 to me, especially when I am saving for a new bike ($3000).
Liquid_Ag 11-09-2007, 01:42 PM so what phone you gettin
Rosshole 11-09-2007, 01:51 PM nothin for now...
while I was talking to the guy last night, there was a young couple that just bought an i760 each.... they didn't look like professionals or anything, I just wonder where some people get their money to operate, ya know?

Liquid_Ag 11-09-2007, 01:58 PM depends on ur priorities
Rosshole 11-09-2007, 02:15 PM true
iLisa 11-09-2007, 02:45 PM if the old one still works.. then just wait on it. :)
Rosshole 11-09-2007, 02:53 PM yeah, no biggie... but he did say that i would save $100 by signing up for the $1100 dollars in additional service over 2 year.
iLisa 11-09-2007, 03:05 PM my cell/contract was up back in Feb... when I do sign up again, I will getta $100 credit towards new phone.. but i still like my LG VX6100.. old is good. :)
Rosshole 11-09-2007, 03:06 PM yeah, I have a boring old LG something or other, and it still works great.. I may as well run it into the ground.
iLisa 11-09-2007, 03:10 PM they laughed me when I went to the verizon store needing a new cover for it... but they did comment on it being the best looking 2+ yr old phone they'd ever seen...
Liquid_Ag 11-09-2007, 03:24 PM http://pocketpccentral.net/images/reviews/access/pm_325/side_by_side.jpgthis was my fav phone ever - lg pm325. so simple, easy to use, and the smallest phone ive ever seen
