: Evo X Owners
wan888 11-12-2007, 03:50 AM Hi there,
I just got my Evo X a couple of weeks ago, I wonder how many here are sharing the same joy?
Know anywhere that sell anything for the X?
Thx
Jackygor 11-12-2007, 04:42 AM O M F G....

Kooldino 11-12-2007, 07:26 AM Where you from, wan888 (http://www.evoxforums.com/forums/member.php?u=253)? Also, you have an evo X...but it's a 2007 model year?
wan888 11-12-2007, 10:42 AM I'm in Hong Kong, I belive mine's the first here.

wan888 11-12-2007, 10:46 AM I used to have a Evo 8 MR, comparing the X with the MR, I kinda felt a bit disappointed. Mainly from the lack of that turbo punch. You know, that punch is really the climax of these cars. The X lacked that punch probably becos of the better low-end torque.
I can now hill-start without the need to rev it up high and dump the clutch. The power is very very very linear, it feels like a 2.5 turbo instead of a 2.0.
Handling-wise, it's the usual Evolution with an even sharper turn and more electronics, i.e the Stability control.
All-in-all, I think I'm more longing for the SST then the manual, this car's a tech freak.
Jackygor 11-12-2007, 10:52 AM how do you feel about the power? body roll?
I have seen those photos before! I even posted them!
wan888 11-12-2007, 11:03 AM The car has just runned-in, the power is not bad at all, actually it's a more drivable car then the predecessors. Especially when exiting the corner. Yes, quite significant bodyroll, i'd want to lower the car a bit.
Jackygor 11-12-2007, 11:12 AM We envy you!
Btw, where did the turbo gauge thingys go? I can't find it anywhere in the pictures?
Kansei 11-12-2007, 11:53 AM Congrats wan888 you're definitely the first Evo X owner on here. Most of us are in North America and won't see the Evo X for quite some time still.
zenmaster 11-12-2007, 12:36 PM Wan88. How much did you pay? The tax is crazy, like 50% of the price you pay for the car? Even though I now live in the US, I sure wish I can drive that car around Tai Mo Shan.
gumby 11-12-2007, 01:47 PM Wan88, you're getting both the manual and the SST?? Anyway, have you heard anything about the SST launch date? That article in Autoweek about the delay in the SST release really crushed me. I'm dying for my car to arrive!
wan888 11-12-2007, 02:50 PM Thx guys,
wow zenmaster, i'm sure you're a local in hk. i've not driven there for a long long time.
Yeah, tax in hong kong is crazy. The car taxed is around US$57k
As for SST, yeah I'm longing for that, I was told mine should arrive in February, I'll be trading this Evo for the GTR in January and await the SST. Hopefully, by then they've already solved all problems.
Kooldino 11-12-2007, 04:29 PM Awesome! Can you take a picture of the turbo for us? I want to see the gap between it and the firewall.
_Chris_ 11-12-2007, 08:07 PM I'm in Hong Kong, I belive mine's the first here.
Very nice! We definitely envy you.

Wan you lucky bastard! And the GTR this January??? Damn! With my own money I could only afford a HIACE lol. But where are you gonna drive that GTR in Hong Kong? Theres not much places where you can really test it out.
TriStateEvo 11-13-2007, 03:20 AM Portland Street... blow by the hookers at lightning speed.
Tvall13 11-13-2007, 03:41 AM You said you don't get as much of a jolt when the turbo kicks in, but is it as fast or faster than your Evo 8 MR?
zenmaster 11-13-2007, 05:14 AM Portland Street... blow by the hookers at lightning speed.
LOL! I can't believe there are so many Hong Kong homies here.
Jackygor 11-13-2007, 07:26 AM We can start like a hong kong section for us hongers soon...hahaha
I'll be getting mine in the first week of December!:)
BTW mine is pearl white, smart key (keyless operation system), spoiler/airdam, side skirts, & rear bumper side skirts.

BTW - if you know others getting the car, be sure to refer them here. :)
B1GHAM 11-13-2007, 02:53 PM ok so now Im starting to want one :(
but the only way Id be able to remotely afford it is if I traded teh speed (yeah, cant quite do 2 carpayments)... which oddly enough, I REALLY dont want to do.
plus I want a manual MR - maybe Ill wait a year and either buy a used IX or get lucky and find some good changes for next year's X. This is all ofcourse assuming I fall into some money or do AMAZINGLY well at work.
Kooldino 11-13-2007, 03:00 PM If money is an issue, rock the speed for another year, and then sell it and pick up a MY08 leftover X or something like that.
B1GHAM 11-13-2007, 03:10 PM If money is an issue, rock the speed for another year, and then sell it and pick up a MY08 leftover X or something like that.
I think youre missing it... I really dont WANT to sell the speed. I actually plan to keep it as long as humanly possible, sounds weird but its true. It was the first car I ever purchased 100% on my own, its limited (and RARE), and despite all its flaws, I love driving the car.
I wanna be one of those guys on overhaulin who hangs onto their car about 30 years too long and still has it even though it needs a ton of work lol...
but I do want the evo, I just wish SST was an option instead of the only choice when getting the MR. transmission exclusion is bad for business, regardless of whats better... I mean if you can buy an automatic porsche, I should be able to get a manual evo X MR
zenmaster 11-13-2007, 10:23 PM Nah, not a Hongkie. I'm Japanese who just happens to visit HK every so often. :)
And the first place you would mention is portland street. Very very nice
TriStateEvo 11-14-2007, 01:51 AM Not just the first place I mention. It's the first place I go.
silvreclipse 11-14-2007, 06:36 AM nice to see that some are getting their cars or already got them oh the joy ya'll must have.as for me i may wait a year or less dont think i can get one right away.

Are you getting SST?
Nope, 5 speed manual transmission
zenmaster 11-20-2007, 09:14 AM Man I really hope someone will give us a review of the SST. I'm getting very very fustrated by it.

Most car mag has reviewed SST and its got great review. The only thing missing is that they haven't reviewed the launch control of the SST.
silvreclipse 11-20-2007, 05:44 PM its not close enough i'm tired of waiting.i talk to the dealership and they said they will be getting some by the end january or first week of february.

That must mean you are getting a GSR with manual 5 spd.
Vancouver Mitsu expects their first GSR to arrive Dec. 23 and the second one in the first half of January. I will be checking it out and taking photos of the base GSR for our Canadian readers. We really want to see what they look like with the small spoiler, cast wheels and halogen headlights. The first two are going to be white and black.

Yes, we have reviews of the transmission in the JDM Evo X. All good as far as we have heard. The problem now is supposedly the reliability of the transmissions and getting them manufactured and delivered to North America. You will just have to wait a little longer (maybe a lot longer!!!).
silvreclipse 11-20-2007, 06:10 PM i may wait till they get a sst one in there the guy told me the first ones will be gsr's.possibly getting around 8 since they have sold out of the previous inventories of the evo.he said they are going to try to get all available colors for the gsr.i want a manual but also want to drive the sst and how different they are in feel.

Ya, possibly delayed until spring. Oh well, I am not in need of a car, but I am in need of an Evo X. Oh well, I know I won't be happy with the GSR, so I will just wait it out and wait for MR.

You should still check out the GSR when it comes in. By then hopefully we will know better about the MR availability.
