Introducing E-Tuners!

I'm pleased to inform everyone of a new type of merchant status on our forums - E-Tuners! If you're not already aware, an E-Tuner is someone who can tune your car remotely via email. However, it will require you to have either a Cobb AccessPort or a Tactrix cable with ECUFlash and EvoScan.

While tuning is best done in person, it is generally safe to e-tune a stock or mildly modified car. E-Tuning a potentially high powered car should be reserved for experienced customers who are more aware of hardware issues that can arise during the process, and who generally know what to look for.

With that being said, if you are interested in becoming an E-Tuner, please contact the sales team at sales@autoguide.com

Thank you!

I think this is great for tuners not to be hassled with a full merchant status

there are great tuners out there that don't have shops

Definitely interested in acquiring this vendor status... is AutoGuide going to ask you or other moderators to screen accounts before you give them an E-Tuner moniker?

I ask this because not only will it be a paid vendor account allowed to advertise here, it also establishes an initial level of credibility from somebody looking for tuning advice or an e-tune.

We (the entire staff) evaluate every merchant app (whether it be elite, standard, min-merchant, e-tuner, etc.). We then determine whether the applicant seems like a reputable person/company & good fit for this site.

It's good to know it's not necessarily monetary-driven at the initiation...

It would be a shame to see anybody on here as an approved E-Tuner that has less than 5 years experience, for example. In my opinion, it would be inappropriate to have more experienced tuners placed in the same bucket as people with only experience tuning 300-400 WHP cars, and only since the Evo X came out.

It's different than a shop where their products, projects, and other "hard" items speak for themselves. An e-tuner would rely on public customer feedback, and I honestly haven't seen enough of that toward our existing e-tuners to personally be able to choose among them.

For example, I've followed Clipse3GT's boosted 3G Eclipse build since the beginning, but that's only because I was also involved on the same platform. Knowing he built that car is the only thing that tells me that he knows what he's doing. For other consumers, it would be nice for the E-Tuner status to be exclusive enough to ensure that ANY E-tuner you choose on this site is a credible and experienced tuner.

How can they be sure the etuner is a good tuner or just some guy willing to pay the for the status???

Is there going to be any reassurance that the customer is getting a good tune from said etuner??

Well, a E-Tuner really should have to provide a resume, in my opinion. A shop can stand on its own because they must be a licensed bricks & mortar business in their own jurisdiction and as such must at least be to a very minimum standard, but an E-Tuner should have to at least self-state their experience and accomplishments.

It would be pretty hard for somebody who is genuinely a good business person to misrepresent their skills up front and not be IMMEDIATELY weeded out as a poor tuner as soon as they do business with a few people. Because of that, I think a resume is actually a pretty good idea....
