It is with a heavy heart that I pass along this news, but Michael Lomker passed away this weekend. When he didn't show up to father's day activities on Sunday his family got worried; they found out he had passed away in his apartment. All I know for now is that he wasn't feeling well and admitted himself to the ER last week (per some posts on facebook).

I don't know any more details, but I will post up information as it comes to light.

Michael was a great guy and has been an outstanding member here and elsewhere on the Internet for several years. He came to my last two birthday parties, almost all of our events, and he was a great person to be around.

Here is his build thread, which we'll be keeping around in his memory:

If anyone has any good photos of him from any of our events, I'm sure the family would greatly appreciate them.

I will try and post updates here, but the main info thread will be here:

Several people are asking about donating money. I have re-appropriated the donation button on the top left of MitsuStyle.com for this purpose. We can present a check to his family at the funeral service. If you would like to remain anonymous while making this donation, please PM me.

All donations 'to the site' through this link will be dedicated to mlomker and go to his family until further notice.

His family is trying to keep his car sort-of as his legacy, at least for now. We kicked around the idea of trying to get it up to BIR this weekend and parking it in a safe, central place as a weekend-long memorial for him. If anyone has an extra spot on a trailer or may somehow be able to help us accomplish this, please let me know. The family have a lot on their plate to deal with so the idea of them trying to get it up there is just completely out of the question--but if we can get the resources to make it easy for the family to let us do this then it may just happen.

$5 each sound ok? We are getting an extra-good deal on them through FastSigns and I think there is enough in the MitsuStyle.com fund for the cost to just be 100% covered. That way 100% of the cash collected for the stickers will go to the family.

This is the test-fit decal on spaz's car, the rest will be ready sometime tomorrow. If anyone would like one (or more) please send $5 per decal + $3 shipping to chris@snowsecurity.com, I will ship them all out as fast as I can!

I will have these with me this weekend at BIR. I will be camping in the big green bus so just find me around there. Cash or paypal on-the-spot is dandy.

ALSO if anyone else is making some decals, go for it! I know TK was going to whip up some, go for it, sell them or just run them in memory of Mike, if there's any cash produced from it just pass it on to the family (or let me know if you need help doing so).

I have some news to share, I got this from the family yesterday:

Mark & Trisha Lomker said:
Mark & I just wanted to send you some info we got back. According to Michael's autopsy, his cause of death was: Immediate Cause-Cardiac Tamponade & Underlying Cause-Dissection Aortic Aneurysm.

The attorney should have an idea of what it will take for us to get ownership of the EVO this week. We are all moved in down in Kasson. The EVO is in the garage, begging to be driven, lol.

Well, just wanted to give you an update, talk to you soon & again....thank you fro everything!!!!
I am no expert but it seems as though given the circumstances leading up to his death this could have been caught. I know its the real world and all sorts of crazy stuff happens, but it is just really frustrating and sad. At least this helps bring closure to the family and friends. RIP Mike, you will be missed.

Other updates...we are pretty much out of stickers, like 3-4 left. I gave Mike's brother Mark a pile of cash for that and last week I went and helped him inventory a bunch of Mike's Cisco gear...he was studying for his CCIE amongst everything else he was involved in. I'm not sure if that gear will end up in ebay or in my basement as I am studying for the CCIE myself and I think I have the cash to buy it outright from Mark. I also brought it up at work and my company may just buy the stuff, this would basically more than double the cash in Mark's pocket for keeping the Mike's Evo and could certainly be good for everyone.

There has been a trickle of donations here and there, if anyone still wants to donate please don't hesitate, I will leave the donation link up for a while:
http://www.mitsustyle.com/forums/index.php?do=donate

If anyone has anymore questions, comments, or concerns, that's what we're here for. Post on up.

The frustrating part of this is this... I worked both ER and Critical Care. A AAA (abdominal aortic aneurysm) could have been easily caught if a proper Cat Scan (CT) of the Chest/Abdomen was done. It was have shown if the aorta had a aneurysm and would be able to be repaired via surgery. Triple A's present often in Mike's age bracket and sex and SHOULD have been looked for. The primary cause is exsanguination internally, once the aorta ruptures it is really a matter of minutes before time of death, depending on the size of rupture and location. Once it ruptures there is very little you can do at home. Few survive if this event happens in the hospital. The cardiac tamponade is caused when the blood builds up in the internal cavity and compress the heart muscle.

Either way, if Mike presented to the ED with the Signs/Symptoms he was having chest pains/light headedness/erratic BP readings bileterally, among other more subtle signs. He should have had a CT done. If it was done I have no idea, nor if it was done what the results were.

I am just trying to explain to people what happened.

Mlomker was the inspiration for my fuel system. He was the only other person that I had seen do a Weldon on an X. He figured out years ago about the high return pressure and porting, and really helped the community in moving forward with mods. There were many times that I wish I could have picked his brain and discussed details about fueling, etc.

Here is a pic of Michaels surge tank setup from his mitsustyle thread

and mine

I can honestly say he inspired me.

RIP Mlomker
