Hi guys

Well its about some time that i investigate the secret behind the SST Transmission fluid , since in USA and the OEM called Dia-queen SSTF-1
but , in some countries the same fluid called Castrol BOT 341 and Castrol Transmax Dual .

You want proof ? hear is official Castrol fluid recommendation
from russia ( page 47) :

http://www.castrol.com/liveassets/b.../STAGING/local_assets/downloads/c/Catalog.pdf

My commonsense told me , that, No Way ! , that Castrol make a special
fluid only for mitsubishi transmission .

I found that the SST transmission / FORD DCT Power shift , developed by GETRAG company in Germany :

http://www.getrag.com/en/216

The lab that make this formula oil called British Petroleum (BP):

http://www.bp.com/liveassets/bp_int...G/local_assets/pdf/bpf23_34-38_dualclutch.pdf

The oil company that make this fluid to Castrol & several car manufacturer
Called RAVENOL from Germany :

http://www.ravenol.de/products?l=de&part=426

As you can all see the part number for the Dia-Queen SSTF-1
Is the same for FORD , VOLVO , VW , Chrysler , and the
official name of the fluid that supplied to all the manufacturer above
called RAVENOL - DCT/DSG :

http://www.ravenol-shop.de/epages/6...1107442/Products/212106/SubProducts/212106-5L

As you all can see in the link above , you could buy this fluid
as FORD Catalog Number : 1490761 or VOLVO Catalog Number : 1161838
and also at VW ece ....And its the identical to the Dia-Queen SSTF-1 and manufactured in the same factory to all manufactures

Today i went to VOLVO dealership to check it & compare with some Dia-Queen SSTF-1 that i have , and after talking with the head mechanic , he told me that i right in 100% and this fluid came in several names ......

So now you can buy this fluid from FORD or VOLVO by catalog number (supplied in the link above - down page ) and compare the price.

i did all this research , since the Dia-Queen cost in israel 110$ for 1 L ,
and the same fluid cost in VOLVO or FORD 28 $ for 1 L !

I just changed the oil last week, took a sample of the new stuff and a sample of the old stuff and was about to send it out to get analyzed. My thoughts were that someone else has to make something with the same composition.

I think mine is driven fairly easy and when I changed it, I noticed it definitly needed changing before 40,000 kms. That was my idea of sending in the old stuff, to see how much it broke down and was contaminated for shits and giggles.

Wow, this is a great find! I wonder if I have some leftover DiaQueen and some of the ford/volvo oil if I can get the two analyzed/compared? What sort of equipment would that require? I have a friend with a PhD in Chemistry and is into cars, might give him a call to see whats involved.

Thanks man

I dont know about the difference in USA .
If the fluid price in israel was 115$ for 4 L like in USA , i was not do all this research .

But 110$ for 1 L , its a scandal and its mean , that 6 L cost 660$ !
And all this before 220$ for filter , and all that not include 100$ for work and also , add to all this 16% V.I.T .

i other word , the fluid replacement will cost in israel : 1,137$ !!!

And i"m not start to talking about flash.....:-D

Its only fluid , not Gold !

What I am not sure about stating is that the fluid from Ford or Volvo is the same as the Ravenol, this has to be proven somehow. The Ravenol website states it's compatible with all the makes, but does that mean all the makes different oil is the same? They are different colors.

Not saying it's untrue that they are all the same, but so far the only thing I can concretely say is that the Ravenol is compatible, according to their website. It is a lot cheaper than Mitsu.

That sort of pricing is no more expensive than "top quality", over-the-counter engine oil. Dunno if Aussie pricing will be in the same ballpark... but it's worth me making a few emails/phone calls to find out about all this stuff.

Thanks, folks.

Interesting find. I wonder if someone can have a chemical analysis done to see if they have the same properties, or if one is better than another.

Perhaps this news if true will bring down the oem price.

so what if we buy the castrol and print receipts etc and the trans fails. Will be run into probs with mitsu saying we didnt buy Diaqueen? Good Find.
Well i"m very sorry do disappoint you my friend , but i ddnt mistaken
About this .

Castrol make games with several names on the same fluid .

You want another proof ? hear is official Castrol fluid recommendation
from russia ( page 47) :

http://www.castrol.com/liveassets/b.../STAGING/local_assets/downloads/c/Catalog.pdf

its 14 mb pdf , but after you open this official Castrol document
you & all the members here will see in there own eyes ,
that the official fluid for Evo X MR is : Castrol Transmax Dual

i want to remain you & all members , that on the 4L Diaqueen SSTF-1 written in big letter: MADE FOR MITSUBISHI BY CASTROL GERMANY........

So , in USA , its called Diaqueen SSTF1 , in Europe shops is called TRANSMAX DUAL
or Castrol BOT 341 that sale only to Europe dealership !

in Germany , Ravenol DCT/DSG tell us that there fluid is Diaqueen SSTF-1 exactly !

Getrag gear company made dual clutch 6 speed transmission to Ford -Volvo-Mitsubishi , and for all this cars , the fluid is identical !

Do you think that Ravenol Germany will declare without promotion/license
from mitsubishi that the DCT/DSG is the identical to Diaqueen SSTF-1 for nothing?
