grass hoppers aren't really around much this year. insects are a bit down here in south dakota. it was moth city for a while. but fuck i remember 2 years ago thats all you'd see.
i get to work on semis so they see that crap all day. you can only imagine the amount of shit that gets caked in there wheels/intercoolers/radiators. like we have to separate them and steam them out due to so much shit getting pushed through there. so if you wanna run grill less don't do it in the midwest and or any country side. stick to the cities.

I am going to remove the two plastic pieces covering the ends of the FMIC. Only doing this for aesthetic reasons. I like to see more mechanical parts of the car than cheap plastic. I don't think it looks like showing off. It isn't like I am adding a body kit or something.
I will be keeping the wire mesh though. Too many semi trucks around here have kicked up rocks that have hit me. Hell, I even had bales of hay fall directly in front of me. Good old Indiana drivers. |

I just drove across Texas twice on a trip to FL and back to Cali. After passing through TX the first time, I added a pet resistant screen to the lower grill area because plenty of fairly large insect life still made it through to the FMIC. This is a pic after passing the second time with the extra screen material zip tied in place:
![]() Not nearly as bad as some of the others posted here, but bad enough to make me want to keep the lower grill in place... |

Pretty good idea, did you notice any difference in the temp gauge?
