Nobody is finger pointing at all.

When an engine frags, it's usually guess work why, which was my point.

If you have a cylinder full of bits of piston, rod and fasteners in 100 lil' bits, it's hard to say which one thing was the cause.

I'm confused, was this a stock X turbo or a BBX Light? Two totally different potential levels of power/torque there.

Oh I know, I meant that for the general public (you know how these things can get lol). They'll try to provide a root cause next week when they get further into the tear down.

57k miles with the tune. 25psi tapering to 20 towards redline. Engine is fine.

405whp bbx evo x GSR with 30k on a friends car, car is still perfectly intact.

Multiple cars on e85 running red & black turbos, still intact.

Every car i stated is known personally through a friend.

Horrid pics and motor failure on here seems to be driver error, tuning error, fuel relay error. If evo x motors were as weak as stated, mine wouldve gone along time ago....

You are right.

People who has problems, is those who write mostly on forums. 4B11 is great engine. Some problems? Yes. But which engine would not have typical problems.
All forums gives wrong image about these engines. No one come to say: "Hey, im fully built and still running great"

Heat is our biggest enemy....
And yes of course rods and things like that.

Good post. In THIS thread we know of less than 20 blown 4B11T motors...out of how how many THOUSAND on this site alone? I don't think this is indicative of Evo Xs in general but more of a tuner world phenomenon. We modify. It's what we do. Catastrophic motor failure is GOING to happen, it's a guarantee (if you didn't already know this, we have a bigger problem). The POINT of this thread is to see WHY they happen, and WHAT can be done to PREVENT it. This thread is not about bashing tuners, manufacturers, or Mitsubishi. It's intended to provide a clinical look at what people do and why their motors let go. EDUCATION and PREVENTION.
