Grip ratings:

Ho Ho R6>NT01>RA1>RS3/R888>AD08/NT05/Star Spec>woman tires (anything else)

This is road course specific ratings, but it's the gospel ;-)

For drag, replace R6 with drag radials at the top.

NT01 will give you about 6-8k road miles - but really they should be on track only tires and they're golden until they cord - about 60-80 track hours.

The RS3 is 140 treadwear, the NT01 is 100. but as far as dry grip goes, they are about the smae, with the RS3 having a signifigant adavantage in wet conditions.

As far as an extreme performance summer tire the RS3 matches dry grip with the best of the best ie: Michelin Pilot Super Sports and Advan AD08. However both of these tires have better wet grip than the RS3, but it comes at a price. The RS3 is ,uch cheaper than the advans or michelins.


That being said, its my personal preference for a high hp evo to run the RS3.

Let me add I just clocked over 20k on my RS-3 with street driving. So they could last you more than others might have initially thought.

I honestly wish I went with RS3s over the V12s ...damn you trick3d where were you when I needed tire help...

There is nothing wrong with the V12's for daily driving and even some spirited driving. RS3's aren't all that necessary unless you really are pushing it hard, which most of us don't push it past the V12's limitations in the first place. RS3's will more than likely be my next set of tires but in no way shape or form do I regret my v12's. They are awesome and by far the best bang for your buck.

I try man, I try. I actually got flamed over on the other evo forum for telling somebody to save their money and buy something stickier than a v12 for DD. They told me there was no way even a F1 driver could outdrive the limits of a v12 or similar tire on the street

I now need to begin saving for my next set. My only issue with the RS-3 so far is road noise but with 20k on an extreme summer tire its to be expected.

Although i hear great things about the Pilot Super Sport that might have to be the next one...or starspec.

K, finally uploaded last run at track.

It's where I had lockout (see video), but I think this was one of my better 60ft's...less of mashing on the gas. I'll check my timeslips later to confirm but thought this was my like 2.1 60 which is still awful bet I was improving.
