I did think about that, but he won't be using a harness.

Thanks for everyone's input. I'll make sure to show him the results. BUT, I'd still like to see if someone has pics. My curiosity is making me feel like this:

Painted interior to match the car has been and always will be ugly IMO. Anything with a shiny finish doesnt belong inside a car. If he wants to be different and look decent I would say find a matte/flat red vinyl wrap and do just that dash and door trim. I might go with maroon or some other dark red to set it apart from the exterior. I wouldnt do the seat inserts or anything else in the car. Be different with the red dash trim but leave it at that to keep things subtle. If he still has the ugly fake leather shift boot maybe get a black suede one with maroon stitching?

I'll mention the matte finish idea to him. Thank you.

(Reason this came up at all is he is getting something else painted RR & really wanted to do something different w/ the trim. Figured now may present that opportunity.)

He actually has a nice black leather shift boot + arm rest w/ red stitching that I did for him.

I'd agree that it would be hard to do without it looking tacky.

Off topic;
Was there ever a how-to made for the shift boot stitching?

Damnit. No... It's been shoved to the side for quite some time now. Life has become hectic. Excuses, excuses, I know, but it's the truth. I will do it at some point, I just can't tell you when that will be. :/
