OUch that sucks Eyler, hope you get it worked out!

+1, soldering is pretty cake. People fear it because they've near tried, get some practice in on random wires then do the real one.

Many of the people who think soldering is so easy have nasty, dull and extremely brittle soldered joints. It's not as easy as some of you make it out to be lol. You don't just slop some solder onto two pieces of metal and hope they stick together. I can't tell you how many times I've seen someone touch the solder to the iron's tip just to melt it, super dull slightly dark gray solder, overheating the wire to the point where the insulation a half inch away is melting, the joint being soldered overheated and frying a small transistor, etc.

I'm not making any accusations of the people commenting on this thread, but chances are one or some of you who think it's one of the most basic, easiest tasks on Earth may have unbelievably nasty soldering

Well, when checking it out, it turns out the wire wasn't pulled out of the ECU pin. It's still nice and tight in there (like Fractur3). I used a bullet connector to fix it. The other issue, though, is that I found a solid green wire that seemingly has no pin to connect to, but it's taped to the pin 4 wire. It has a silver core and all the others are copper. Any clues?

It was the extra wire from my ARK MFD. Since I have the version 1, I can't measure AFR's with it. That's what it would've been for.

Well... Pulled the terminal, soldered one wire, the other was still attached so I spliced it. Went to start it, nothing. It would turn over and threw two codes, P0123 and P0118, throttle position and coolant or something. I was like, WTF? Y U NO START Evo! My buddy who helped me is just flabbergasted, then I started laughing. I laughed with youthful abandon. I laughed uncontrollably. I popped the hood, got out, and plugged the ECU back in. Good to go.

Now I'm putting my serial cable in to log on the way back to Oxford.

Oh, and there are a bunch of bees in my driveway, something got spilled and it attracted them. So just now I screamed, "ANARCHY!" and stepped on them and ran. My buddy and my girlfriend freaked out and ran to hide. It was hilarious. I didn't get stung.

So, yeah, redbull and soldering irons are awesome.

Bees.

We have wasps. And spiders. And snakes. And scorpions. And coyotes.

Only the coyotes are good eatin', mostly rather skinny, though.
