WHAT would happen if you are driving in gear, and just turned the engine off? Wheels lock up??
The exact same thing that happen when you leave it in gear and just let off the throttle! During normal driving when you let off and coast the injectors actually stop injecting fuel

Coasting in gear. Coasting in neutral requires fuel injection

I've seen a guy hit reverse at about 20mph in auto x by accident in a BMW. The wheels where spinning backwards while the car was still moving forwards. Car was fine.

What gear was he going for at 20mph that he mistook reverse for it?..

BMW's have 1st and reverse in the top left. But you have to push down or something to put it into reverse. I believe he was down shifting and hit reverse from 2nd instead of 1st.
