why upgrade

Normal mode was feathering worse and worse at shift with bolt ons. Sport mode was softening. With the new upgrades for 60 more HP I didn't think things were going to get better. I was told this was the smart thing for longevity.

by "feathering" do you mean it was slipping lots with shifting.
at WOT or just day to day driving?

most SST cars when powered up on stock turbo and pump gas do not need any SST table massaging to drive "normally". we just change them a little to suit the owner. but if it was playing up on a stock turbo tune then either the tune was ballsed up, or the SST/TCU was going bye-bye back then and continues to do so now. if the TCU or any sensor is bunk, then replaces internal hardware won't fix the issue at all. it's just an expensive band-aid that won't last long at all.

if you've still got a stock turbo on - I'd put the tune completely back to stock. obviously change things up to disable exhaust CELs / 3 port etc. but see if it drives ok on a stock tune.
get someone to "teach in" your SST with a MUT3 tool if it wasn't done already. that will reset your tranny to the new clutchpacks.
if you've done the teach in, and it still drives like poo on a stock ecu tune ... then you might have an issue with something on the TCU/mechatronic assembly side of things. which will really suck.

ok.
was it ok before you put the HKS turbo on?

(basically, i'm trying to ask if the SST was a bit fubar before you powered it up, or is it only since the turbo went on (and a tune) , or is it just since the clutchpacks went in??)

Started getting really soft with bolt ons. I thought clutchpacks were necessary if turbo upgrade was going to be made

So, is it exhibiting the same behavior now that it was pre-clutch install?

unfortunate

plenty of cars going around with HKS / Green / Red and stock SSTs, even on E85. admittedly, E85 and bigger turbos is starting to stretch it a bit though.
but you really should be safe to a bit over 400whp, maybe even 450, on a stock SST with careful tuning. for a while, anyways!
but it doesn't matter now - your clutchpacks are in - so it's time to get them working properly

you really should go see (and you'll need to see someone in person i suspect) someone who is familiar with the MUT3 device to get your tranny dialled in, and then it might pay to at least get a second set of eyes on your tune, if your tuner is cool with that....
something's amiss either with the tranny itself, or with the ecu side of things.
with the Kai it really should be driving like stock and not have any troubles hanging on with your setup, regardless of what boost you're throwing at it.

Herewego, I sent you a PM with the recommended tuner Bakauchi. Contact him after you do the re-learn process as Beeble described. Baka can tweak those SST paramaters to hold the power.

Beeble knows what he's talking about.

Waiting for Baka's reply. Been driving the car more, I just got it back, this is what I feel. My tuner said line pressure is high enough in all modes. He dyno'd the 365 whp in Sport mode, it locks completely under full power pulls. Find a gear in any mode and romp on it with no slip. You only feel and hear a hesitation slip when you catch the next gear at power. S-Sport shifts great, like a machine gun, but I don't want to paddle shift all the time and can't go to S-Sport on the fly. He says the problem is, if I understand it correctly, getting the pressure up as fast in Normal or Sport mode as in S-Sport. Shifts are smooth in all modes and feel appropriately faster and harder as you progress through modes. The tune feels good but the tranny feels like it's doing what he says it's doing. He says if he can figure out how to make all modes go from say 0 to 300 psi as fast at shift as S-Sport does then all would be golden. He says that's what he can't crack. I dunno.
