What about not hitting the front lip? I usually park really far back if there's a curb in front of the spot or I'll reverse in since there's way more clearance and it's easier to judge how far away I am in the back.

Yesterday I was in a rush to get some food at Freebirds (better than chipotle btw) near my place to eat en route to the drag strip and there was a mini cooper yes a fucking mini cooper that was well over the line into the only other available spot, so after getting frustrated and waiting for another spot I rushed and banged my lip right into the curb and popped my bumper out of place. The damage is minor and the bumper went right back into place but it still sucks.
