was doing some research on solar power.... curious what i may need to make it a full stand alone system. wheres all our electrical engineers at!

You'll need some big ass batteries to store enough power to make it standalone Solar power works great... until it's nighttime.

Another thing you might be able to do is have your panels sell power back into the grid when you're not using your garage. Then use power from the grid when needed.

Ya I thought about the grid-tie inverters too and likely would go that route.
