I most likely misspoke about the pss being the best non r compund autocross tire. However the levle of grip, the long life, and the ability to handle rain make it a top contender for the OP.
I also look at the cnd stats and I belive that someone is getting paid to reveiw some of those so high.

Ever since that review I take C&D with a grain of salt.

I only brought up Extreme performance summer tires b/c Mike said the PSS were fastest outside of R comp which something that not yet been proven and I highly, highly doubt.

In response to Mike, not every Auto X class runs R Comps either, there are numerous very competitive street tire classes only. As a result, not only can not everyone just afford to drop 1600.00 a set on A6's to get 60 runs out of them, nor is it even legal in many classes.

I would personally never recommend Conti DW tires, their side wall is extremely soft. They are comprable to the V12 Evo, but a little better IMO.

For a brand new evo..you are exactly right. Now if I had a t3 setup or something crazy on her and this was a few yrs down the road...that would be a diff story.

Exactly why I don't want them.

I'm still skeptical and waiting for more tests to show up and compare it to Extreme performance summer tires. Highly doubt it will turn up faster autocross times than RS3's, Ecsta XS's, Star Specs, or AD08's.

... decent rain performance, and if I get caught in an inch of snow I won't die lol.
Then you're stuck with an All Season tyre - by definition.

NO max perf summer tyre is good in freezing weather and MOST are downright dangerous in snow or ice.

Ideally I'd bail before it really started sticking much and work the rest of the day from home if for some reason I had the evo that day and not the Jeep. Just fishing at this point for examples I suppose of situations that people have been in with various tires.

For example, Sean at DSG when I was ordering my coilovers today was telling me about how he had been in a situation where he had to drive on his Invos in a couple inches of snow. Said that it was fine as long as he was careful and didn't speed at all.

I want something that I can get away with it if I have to kinda ya know? Like I wouldn't wanna be caught in a situation where I had nt05s or something crazy on the car and then was faced with an inch of snow. Maybe I will ultimately end up buying two sets of tires. A dedicated summer set and a uhp all season set.

I think the idea of getting 2 sets is a fantastic idea if you plan to drive in the snow more than just a few times a year
