Just wondering has anyone been driving their car in the winter for a few years and not had a failure? Not looking for someone who has 6000 miles and has only seen half a winter so far. Mainly looking for cars that have seen 2-3+ winters.

Also for those who have had failures, what was the total cost to have it replaced? If you don't mind posting so others can know what to expect.
They all fail usually after 50000km or 3 years on evo x and ralliart

Mine lasted 4 years 40K miles, pump just failed last week. It's definitely just a matter of time, some are just luckier than others, but i know one thing for sure, once i buy a new one its getting some serious preventative sealant treatment..

Ill be buying a new pump here very soon from the local dealer and iv'e been brainstorming on how to successfully prevent corrosion without sacrificing the ability to keep it cool during the summer and track days. If overheating wasn't an issue i would just shrink wrap the entire pump, but not sure if heat will disperse through shrink wrap material very well (maybe that's still an option?) I know the aluminum is the weak point so i was thinking maybe coating all the aluminum parts of the pump in por-15 and then using some sort of gasket sealant over all the cracks where the motor meets the pump housing and then spraying it down with rust proof paint. Just some ideas, I have no problem spending $1500 on mods, but when it comes to oem replacement parts it pisses me off lol

This is my 4th winter with the car and plenty plenty of snow driving. I purposely go drive when it snows. And 3 winters in Chicago. ACD pump has been fine. Car has little over 40k miles on it now.

Yeah I assumed that if you drive in cold weather/snow it will eventually give out.

Fortunately my car does not see any snow, and only sees some mildly cold weather before it is stored.

So I'm hoping mine does not give out.

I agree with you, I don't mind spending money on mods, but if something breaks and I have to fix it that really pisses me off.

Storing the X for winter is definitely the way to go, Ill be going this route in the future once i buy a winter beater. It will be hard though because the Evo is Sooo much fun in the snow! Your pump will most likely be fine for a long time since it rarely sees salty roads and cold temps.. mine looks like a rust bucket after 4 winters..

I hope it will be fine.

Even on a cold day it still is started in a 60 degree garage so there can't be too much stress.

I think they mainly fail when it is under 20 degrees F. Add in the salt corrosion and it might be sooner.

This nice thing about storing it, is it always looks brand new. I drove my STI in the snow, and it definitely beats up on it pretty well.
