I've got the SSP deep pan and cooler on its way to me and will be ordering the inline and OEM style reusable filters soon. After that I'm saving for the 500 hp clutch packs and upgraded seals. Only thing I've heard that would put Dodson ahead of SSP are rumors of TCU development to work with Motec. I emailed them with questions about that and never heard back though so who knows if it's true.

Thanks for the kind words, and make sure and post up some pics of the parts once you get them . If you need anything, or have ANY questions about the install don't hesitate to contact me at the number below in my signature. That's my DIRECT CELL line were I'm available 7 days as week!

Whatever the clutch packs are Doson, SSP or otherwise (we use SSP) after the install if the car doesnt see a MUT3 for a teach in procedure, it's all a waste of time.

I'd rather keep the stock clutch pack in and have slip than have Dodsun/SSP without a teach in for the TCU.

Could you elaborate on the MUT3? Is that something in every TCU?

Isn't a teach in only required if the stack height changes? I had understood if it stayed the same then a teach in wouldn't be necessary. Besides, if one is required it can always be done, as long as your firmware supports it.

MUT3 is Mitsubishi's computer tool for diagnostics and repairs.

Correct.

The stack height of the aftermarket clutch packs does change, so there is a teach in procedure using a MUT3 and yes a MUT3 is a Mitsubishi Diagnostic computer, it looks like this (although mine is just a scabby old DELL not a panasonic tough book)

Stack height changes:

So after you pull the SST out, change the clutch packs and re-install the new clutch kit you should perform the teach in proceedure. You'd also so perform the teach in if you have changed the TCU rom file to a newer version like B001, same goes for a Ralliart Lancer when you've activated S-Sport and Launch Control. Although not vital, it's highly recommended.

The teach in procedure using the MUT3 covers:

1. Plausibility check
2. Shift fork Teach-In
3. Line pressure Test
4. Stroke Teach-In
5. Boost Teach-In
6. Interlock Teach-In
7. Clutch Ventilation
8. Reset clutch gain

There are some requirements for the teach in to proceed (a lot like other sensor or solenoid reprogramming with the MUT3 like an ACD bleed) and in this case you need the car to be switched on, idling in park with brake pressure applied. For the boost teach in, you need between 25-50% accel depression as well. All the target net to be meet before teach in will start.

If you've changed clutch packs, even if they are close to OEM in stack height this would be wise to do, otherwise you may have pissed your hard earned money on the wall for your new clutch packs.

I have clutch packs that are a higher install height than OEM and I didn't do a learn in. So, I'm curious what kind of adverse effects I might be seeing from not doing this procedure?
