caution If transmission fluid drains out, it is no indication, that the transmission fluid level is already adjusted or too high. To fill-in transmission fluid again via transmission fluid filling bore is mandatory to ensure proper transmission fluid level in maincontrol chamber, too.

And that is reasonable... , but why
"The following steps 10 to 13 are to be conducted in one go without any longer breaks." ?
It seems nothing fancy to me in those 3 steps

So why not just measure how much that comes out and that same amount will be the new oil amount too.

The attachment describe fluid chambers inside the SST. The diagram is for the for powershift (6DCT450) which is a cousin of the SST (6DCT470).

That is why you have to keep pouring fluid in until fluid is flowing out the check level plug to ensure chamber 1 is full. Otherwise chamber 2 will be fine but chamber 1 will be low.

As for not having long breaks between step 10 - 13, the only thing that come to mind is fluid temperature. If the fluid cools down too much, might contract and lead to overfill.

Thanks fearfulmaster, that attachment is a very good find. At last we can understand what's going on.
Do you have the entire pdf file?

I posted the 4 relevant pages for powershift fluid level check in post 6 of this thread:

http://www.evoxforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67210

I downloaded the entire service manual for the ford focus. Ford like to put each page in a separate pdf file which is a pain. Perhaps they have slow computers that can only display a page at a time.
