Since you probably didnt do what I asked you to and checked for good ground, just move the ground to the chassis and see if it works for you. A good grounding point I used is the dash mounting bolt that is visible on the right side of the radio opening when you remove the radio. If you don't want to do that, cut the wire, connect a small jumper cable, and move from ground to ground until you find a good one. It won't hurt anything since touching the wire to ground is the same as closing the e-brake switch and completing the ground circuit.
you need a by pass module, check ebay, if not then you need the parking brake on to be able to watch video. I think the alpine needs the speed sensor to to make sure the car is stopped. PAC-TR7
I never installed it without the hack, so it's the only one I know, but I know there was 2 wires that connect to the TR7, I assume ebrake and speed emulation, but I have no idea I just followed the instructions from the TR7 and it works great.
I don't think it's required, I just didn't want to splice into the factory harness and without it you'll need 2 slices for sure. I don't think which or where since I didn't hook it up that way But for DVD playback those have to be connected to something, TR7 or the vehicle.
next time I have my deck out I'll get the wire colors, I can't remember them off the top of my head and my car is an hour away from me ATM. But I did all the wiring out side of the car, and just plugged it all in. I bought the stereo pig tail (harness) and pre wired it to the alpine harness and wired in the TR7 inline so it was just one plug and done everything worked.
the grounding trick doesn't work anymore. If other functions are working it's likely cause the security features aren't connected properly. In the manual it should tell you the process, lots of them are enable the emergency brake and honk the horn 3 times, or something like that. The old grounding trick has been gone for a long time now cause it was so easy to by pass it.
that is why I did it, it emulates all that stuff so it's just connects to power and ground form the stereo and 2 of the wires form the alpine unit and it's done. The rest of the stereo installs normally.
If I was near my car I'd take pics of the wiring for ya, if you want I can do that this weekend and tell you the exact wires that I'm using on the TR7, if you can wait that long that is, just not near it right now.
Yep thats fine, I just ordered so it will be a few days
