I went auto-crossing today. On my way back ASC service required light came up. i turned the car off waited for 5 mins and then i started driving home. The light again came up. The ASC automatically turned off and the button wont work. Later i see the
/ - / sign and service required comed up with that sign.

I was not able to switch between tarmac, gravel or snow.
During auto-crossing i kicked the brake light sensor and the lights stayed on all the way about 80 miles till i came home. I fixed the sensor some how and now the lights dont show up. I am able to switch between the tarmac, gravel and snow modes. Everything seems good and I drove for a while.
Can the brake lights staying on continuously cause those lights to show up or did i screw up my diff or something.
should i go to mitsu to get it checked.i dont have a cat on my car and i changed the clutch too. So Will the void my warranty and tell me to pay for anything that needs to be done?
The clutch will void your power train warranty. The service chief at my dealer told me that straight up. A heavier clutch will put undue stress on parts that aren't designed for it (clutch master cylinder for instance) and an engine that doesn't need it. By the time you need a heavier/bigger clutch your warranty is probably gone, anyway.
OP, if you boost over 30 PSI, the ASC light comes on and the traction control shuts off. That could be your problem, as could be your alignment or your fluid level in the trunk.
guess it depends from dealership to dealership, i've brought mine to 2 different dealerships in my area and during the conversation it came up that i have upgraded. also one of the dealerships bled the asc fluid and refilled it (after clutch installment)
I will check my fluid levels and alignment. i got my alignment done couple of thousand miles ago. So possibly i did not mess up the diff or awc.
I have light mods done to the car Tomei exhaust, TP, exedy stage 2, perrin EBCS, drop-in and a tune by Kozmic27 (MDR performance). He set my peak boost at 28. Is it still possible to over boost?
Yeah, you can overboost. And, I see you're in Indiana, the cold weather may be affecting your engine, causing it to overboost. Happened to me a lot last winter, threw me into limp mode a few times, too.
i had the dealership check the codes and and they told me it was because of the brake lights staying on and they wold replace the sensor. I will have them check my speed sensor too.
I had the same warning come up last Sunday when I was making a left turn at an intersection. Did not know what happened. Other than the cold temperature and a little less air in all tires, I did not know what else changed. I turned the car off at the next light and turned it back on, the warning went away. Did not come back again.
My car has all the bolt ons and is tuned by Ivey. The problem started when I installed my HKS SSQV3 VTA. I took the car back to Ivey and he recirculated it, but the ASC still turns off at WOT.
i turned ASC completly off when I autox .the fluid levels look good and so is the alignment. I adjusted the tire pressures too. The left tires had 2-4 psi than the right ones. I didn't see the light come back till now.
ok the same problem is happening to me now..i have the service required with the /-/ symbol coming up on the dash... I shut down the car and ran it again 20 minutes later and it shows up every time i leave. I checked the fluid in the trunk and the fluid for the AWC was full. I also cant select between snow tarmac and gravel anymore.. I live in canada Alberta so its about -25 on average right now here so is it the weather thats screwing everything up or what? I cant take it to the dealership either since it takes 5 hours for me to drive into edmonton
That's the AWC hydraulic pump. They always fail after 3-5 years in winter climates. Mine gave out 3 months ago at 5yrs/30K miles. Costs about $2K parts and labor to replace. Will be covered under 3yr warranty or extended if you have it, but not under limited powertrain warranty.
Ok I had the asc service needed light come on everytime I get wheel slip, stealrship checked it could not find the problem.
Then I thought to my self after a few days of thinking about it, what if the speed sensors and abs ones are not working properly because the brake pads could be glazed or whatever the reason.
The following worked for me
Take off and while in second gear at 3000 to 4000 rpm apply the brake but floor the accelerator for around 2 to 4 seconds but using the brake pedal dont let the car accelerate, this will fully load up the engine, driveline, abs, and traction control.
Do this 3 to 4 times at around 10 to 30 seconds apart.
Viola no more asc service needed light coming up.
I'm not saying this will work for you but it did for me.
I'm not responsible if your car breaks or whatever issue arises from this but it worked for me.
ok. I read every post on this thread....wow, LED tail lights and it came on? wth?
This code just came up for me this morning on the way to work. 9:30am, Southern California, Overcast..kinda cool around 72 degrees F. I'm not sure of my elevation or bar? but I don't think this is the reason it pull this code.
I was on the freeway and decided to floor it and loose this civic that wanted to race. I have recently installed a MAP O2 Dump, UR resonated test pipe and Greddy Ti-C catback. Last year, I installed an Injen Short Ram Intake... I HAVE NOT YET TUNED MY CAR. Waiting for my tuner to get back from vacation this month.
I know that since I haven't tuned it yet, I would be getting a lot of codes. Usually the check engine code if i punch it too much. But this time it was the ASC system service required code. It came on right when i slammed the pedal at 60mph. I checked my hoses (the one's i can see) and I'm not sure what "fuild level" i have to check in my trunk? I thought all I had was the windshield washer fluid and battery in the trunk. But I'll check those anyway just to be safe?
I just wanted to check what you guys thought? Could it possibly link to my mods w/out a tune yet?
after I turned the car off at a gas station and turned it back on..I haven't seen the code back...drove for 2-3 miles and no code still. I wonder if should worry about it anymore? or if there is a hose I can't see popped off? or some fluid is low? not sure what... I should tell my tuner that it happened right? maybe he can check it and fix it?

I'm going to say a few things and I need you to take them with a grain of salt:
1. WTF ARE YOU DOING MAN?!?!?
2. Why would you floor it if you know its throwing codes for not being tuned after the mods?
3. Why are you modding before tuning.
4. I'll take your parts when your engine blows.
5. WTF would you go WOT in 5th especially with all those mods and no tune.
The reservoir for the acd/ayc pump is the trunk thats what you want to check i have this light on too but my car really needs an alignment im hoping that will fix it my question is once the alignment is done does the light just turn off or does it need to be reset or anything
I also got the ASC/ABS service required, when I start the car it doesn't show up, but later after 5-7 minutes driving or driving aggressively it turns on.
Is this gonna be dead wheel speed sensor or the ASC/ABS pump or the AWC pump or it is the same pump for all?
And if it is, where is located and where can I buy a new one OEM?
Bumping a somewhat old thread. I've been searching and there seems to be no direct answer with the awc service required light coming on. I tried scanning with a scanner from autozone and Evoscan 2.7, 2.8 and 2.9 and nothing is showing a code. The light first came on when I drove the car at night and the temperature read 0 degrees. I havent changed anything on the car in a while. The last thing to be done was the CMC recall a week or two ago. I can't select tarmac, gravel or snow like everyone else.
Is there a way to pull a code to know exactly what the problem is? I've read it could be anything from a speed sensor to the pump failing.
Is there any reason not to think that your AYC pump is dead? These things drop like flies in our car in winter climates. Replaced mine last May at 5years@35k miles, which is actually pretty good, most don't last that long.
