haha i started this thread. i thought it died awhile ago.. anyway the 0-60 time of a stock gsr is 4.9 keep in mind thats the average time i get from multiple sites, some give me 4.6 others, 5.2, the STI usually gets a 4.6 and the 09 wrx usually gets a 5.4, so the evo is a good amount quicker stock for stock against a wrx.

these magazine numbers don't really mean much...if we're talking about the streets most runs are done on a roll, and from a dig rarely do people stop at 60mph
look up the 1/4 miles times on EvoM and nasioc/iwsti/clubwrx to compare real world times done by real drivers on real tracks/streets for some good comparisons. look at the 60' and 1/8 and 1/4 mile trap speed to see how much POWER your car has...if your car can trap 115mph you will beat a car that traps 110mph every single time given equal drivers and traction i had a bolt-on 9 and then a 2.5RS coupe with 05 STi engine and tranny at stage 2 cutom tuned (stg. 2 is a common denotation for turbo back and tune [off the shelf or custom] in the subaru world) and now a bone stock X and i can tell you that the subaru has better low end and midrange torque (physics...more displacment and smaller turbo), but the top end isn't really there. look up the limit of the stock turbos on the EJ engines and the difference becomes clear. the Evo's stock turbo can go up to 400whp if the fuel and supporting mods are right. case in point on HB Speed's dyno most STis with stock turbo make between 280-300whp, whereas the IXs and Xs make 330-350whp. both types of cars with bolt-ons and tune on stock turbo. on the street at low speeds the subaru's lighter weight (my RS was 2900 lbs but even the current subaurs are lighter than the X as aforementioned) and midrange torque could give the Evo a fight, but once you get to speeds that require 3rd gear and beyond to reach the Evo would be at an advantage. not sure about the comment about how the STis have a good 4th gear as it stops at around 97mph for pre-07...the STi's 6spd requires a lot of good and quick shifting to be able to keep up with a properly driven 5spd car with similar power to weight ratio. my RSTi had a 5spd before the 6spd with a stock STi engine, and the 5spd with stock engine combination was just as quick as the 6spd with stage 2 power. power to weight ratio and gearing are where it's at for roll races....my little RSTi was neck and neck with an e92 6spd m3 from 40-100mph anyways, a WRX is lighter than the Evo and can make similar peak torque probably in the midrange, but if you compare the dyno graphs for a lightly modded X to a stock subaru variant turbo'ed WRX (vf39/43/etc swapped WRX) then area under the curve heavily favors the Evo. the scoobys will be dead after 5500rpm whereas the Evo will go on to redline much more aggressively than the subaru (though it will dip too) sorry for the novel, conclusion is when very mildly modded (stock turbo with bolt-ons and tune) the WRX has weight and midrange torque to its advantage...the Evo has top end and everything else. start the run at 60mph and you should expect victory unless the subaru is packing an honest 330 dynojet whp which would require a bigger turbo than the stock variants.
