I personally don't go with stock vs. stock because most people aren't race car drivers and there for they are going to make mistakes so the slower car may win. When I had my s2000 stock I went up to the track and race a 2003 mustang cobra with a good bit of mods and I beat him for he missed 2nd gear but I'm damn sure that car would've killed me by a couple of cars if he hadn't missed 2nd so it is very had to say which cars are truely faster unless you have to pro drivers going at it.

What year WRX?

My old 07 WRX at Stage 2 put down 230 / 290 on a Dyno Dynamics, but my new Evo GSR with just an off the shelf Cobb Stage 1 tune "feels" stronger at mid-range and up.

Stock for stock I can see the WRX getting the jump out of the hole though, the 07's are lighter than the Evo X, and those 2.5L motors are torque monsters.

1/4 mile, right? Are you sure it wasn't him just blowing 2nd gear?

An 03 - 04 Cobra with a pulley change, exhaust, and tune will put down 500 plus HP to the ground easy.

The Cobra must have had problems getting traction that day as well. Tell him next time at the track to stay out of the water if he's running street tires.

This was my point you can't say one car is faster then the other because you beat it for I know the guy who had the cobra and I knew he was about to kill me but he missed a gear so I win that doesn't mean my s2k is the faster car by no means. Although after I had the s2k built and turboed I owned his cobra on a straight run he had 527 rwhp and I had 517 rwhp at the time . And yes it is a quarter mile strip.

My 04 has a turboback, no tune. I've trounced STi's and surprised many Evos. It's an odd little rex, though, having put down 206/222 with just an STi catback. I have the 5 speed though, so gearing is in my favor in the drag scene. I have heard from many sources that the X isn't super impressive in stock form, but when modded with even just an intake, begins to SHINE. Having said that, I don't expect any 08 and below WRX to pose any significant threat to any year Evo, especially the X.

just make as much power as you possibly can. if the wrx beats you, just know that unless you spent all your money on ARC, you spent less money then he did.

bahahha.. with those whp numbers.. i hate to rain on your parade, but your not "trouncing" any sti or evo. I have owned a 250whp wrx, 300whp sti, and now a 350 whp evo getting ready to blow the 400whp's out of the water and i can tell you that a 2.0 liter 200whp wrx does not have shit on any stock evo or stock sti. a sti stock in 2006 made 250 whp, 2007 made 260 whp, 2008+ made 270 whp. evos make 230-270 whp. it has nothing to do with your gears.. its the DRIVERS if you are beating any of these cars.

other then that, i like most of your posts.
