Thumbs up SpeedCircuit CAI Preview

A few weeks ago I went over to Dino's and installed a prototype of his new Cold Air Intake.
First I have to say this was an easy install. This was my first time under the hood of a car doing anything other than checking the dip stick. As you can see from the how-to (soon to come) it is very straight forward. The hardest part is removing the stock air box and that is even pretty easy.
This is a great first mod. It helps lean out the car a bit increasing gas mileage and adds a very nice sound. You can now hear the open filter sucking in the air and the blow off valve releasing. With the windows rolled up you can hardly hear it if you drive conservatively but windows rolled down and under boost it’s a beautiful thing. My girlfriend began calling the car a vacuum cleaner and my younger brothers now think this car belongs in the new F&F movie.
Looks wise it really helps open up the engine bay. No more huge box and no open filter right there. Just a pipe going down. I plan to powder coat mine wrinkle black to give it that cool stealth look.
If you are worried about rain getting into the filter...don’t. The past few weeks have been real crappy weather wise which has been a great time to test. I've been driving like a drunk, chasing puddles on the driver side of the car to see if I can choke up the intake and so far no hiccups at all. When you install the intake (any CAI) make sure the heat shield is facing the wheel lining. You can see the shield through the lining so I’ve been checking after each drive and have yet to see much water on it. Just some drops at most after a good thunderstorm and thats when I found a nice pot hole I could swim in. But just in case water does somehow make it through the filter is protected by the heat shield.
Overall I am very pleased with the intake. Dino does some great work and has some amazing products. In talking to him I could tell he puts a lot of time and effort into his work to make sure its damn near perfect.
If anyone has any questions you are more than welcome to ask. I am going to post up pics tomorrow and try to get a few vids. Any requests on specific pics or vids just let me know. Gotta find a victim to ride along with me to work the camera

Haha forgot about that one. Not really much of a difference. A slight more towards the top of the rpm range but I think thats because I get excited from hearing the intake and bov so I step on it a bit more.

I normally wouldnt be also but since I am testing out the intake I want to try and put it through worst case scenario.

According to the Auterra PDA Dyno, I averaged a 20hp gain on my own car, but then again, my car is modified.

I only say not much of a difference because I havent been pushing the car hard real often the past 2 weeks. I made the mistake of going to Sears to put my summer tires back on my newly painted rims and have been having problems ever since. Been losing pressure in one tire and no one seems to have a fix! But when I do push the car I can feel it!
Right after the CAI was installed Dino and myself went for a drive and it definitely felt better and pulled harder. After that I had a nice long drive home and even though it downpoured that night I pushed the car when I could and it was enjoyable to say the least.
