steering rack and pinion

Few quick questions abt the evo X steering rack and pinion:

- Are there any aftermarket companies make a steering rack for the x that is faster than the OEM one?

-are there any other symptoms of a bad steering rack besides bump steer and the car wandering from left to right?

-Does anyone on this forum have a rack and pinion for sale ?

-How hard is it to install a new rack and pinion? Estimated labor cost also is appreciated.

Mods I wasn't sure exactly where ti post this so move it if necessary. Thanks

Steering racks do not cause, or change, bump steer. You would need to change the length of the steering arm or the location of the rack mounting position in relation to the suspension pivits to do that.

I hit a curb this last winter and my steering wheel pulls to different sides over surface changes and mid corner bumps. Also it consistently pulls to the right when coasting and braking and left when accelerating. When its on cruise control it tracks straight.

Positive caster is causing your problem. You will either need coilovers or a caster/camber correction kit to fix this, since factory alignment is non-adjustable except for toe. Good luck.
