So, some more progress on the roll cage.

The rear stays tag up to the rear strut towers with a cross bar that runs between the two stays. Then a diagonal between the stays runs up to the main hoop that now has double diagonals that tag into the box frame. It's all starting to take shape now, should be finished very soon all things going well.

McCoy how come you didn't remove the two diagonal bars from behind the stock seats? They're in the homologation PDF that they can be removed safely and don't really do anything.

Well spotted.

They will be coming out after the cage is finished, they were there for support of the rear bulkhead panel. In our case the rear bulkhead panel is there to contain fuel should there be a rupture of the surge tank. I like my bacon crispy, not my racecar drivers.

In the rules we were given we couldnt use C/F or fibreglass for the rear bulkhead panel, they rules dictated that if a panel was used then it would need to be of the material and the same thickness of other sheetmetal used in the car. So, at that time it was easier to keep the seat supports in and mount onto them, plus they do give some rigidity to the car albeit small.

More progress today, getting close to painting the etch primer in flat black although I'm still tempted to paint the cage green after the etch primer goes on.

1) Harness bar now with eye bolts
2) Gusset to centre of Hoop
3) Door Bars
4) Windscreen pillar reinforcement bars
5) A-pillar gussets
6) Dashboard, instruments and centre console re-fitted including all mods are front legs for fitment through the dash and vents. It's about the cleanest fitment I can have with the limited chop up of the vents.

Very nearly finsihed now, very happy with it. Should make for a very safe AND light Roll Cage.

Close up
