Your right, after you open the hood it sounds somewhat of a normal Evo noise. Mine does sound similar since day one. I have about 4k miles, still bone stock.

yeah,

but the noise was noticeably amplified today so it has me a bit worried. car was parked outside in the cold for a while before this happened (usually it's parked in a heated garage). Hoping maybe the cold is amplifying the noise somehow.

I do find it funny that after 4 years and 40k miles I still scratch my head when I hear noises, trying to figure out if I've ever heard it before, or if it's anything to be worried about.

I'm also extra sensitive right now as I leave tomorrow for my 2 month trip out your way. So I changed oil, cleaned air filter, checked and topped off all fluids...

I also get my blizzaks on Wednesday! had to have tirerack ship them to a sears there lol. I'm just afraid of how badly swapping tires is going to destroy the plastidip on the wheels :/
Oh well, I'll deal with it when it happens.

Appreciate it, just wanted some loving reassurance from other forum peeps. Hard to capture how relatively loud noises are over video though. I've been listening to other videos on youtube and the noise is identical (as in same pattern, same tones) but can't tell how the volumes match up. If it's the same pattern and same sounds though then probably nothing to worry about.

The only thing I could hear out of the ordinary was at the very end of the video there was a clinking noise.

yeah, I put the mic back real close to the exhaust heat shield. That noise has been there for at least a couple of years.

Is it the same noise as in this guys video at around the 40-50 second mark?

My '08 GSR makes the same noise, but it doesn't seem to be that loud. Is it that loud after she's warmed up some? That clinking noise at the end sounded like you have your heater on too. All I heard in your video seemed to be pretty normal.

Actually that video up a few posts above is my vid i took of my X when I had problems. My tappets needed replaced and my exhaust cam blew up! FWIW, don't try and blow off the noise as being normal, get it checked.

Here is the thread I made on it.

I was referring to the noises heard in this video:

I video taped it. Sorry you can't see much... it was night.
